I made this treble clef, but for some reason, I just can't figure out
how to make it look, well, better. I've been foolin' with it for days.
Any suggestions or edits or VERY welcome!

I'm no expert on creating ascii art... but if I had to give you any
pointers, it would be this:
First of all, you're limiting yourself to one charater: X. That's okay
if you like the look that one character gives, but it can be very
limiting. Certain letter shapes can add nice smooth curves to your
objects. Also, there is a process called "anti-aliasing" which can
smooth out curves and lines. Take an arced line, for example...

            ------
      ------ ------
------ ------
As the line bends up and down there is a chop as is pops to the next line.
This is because no anti-aliasing is used. Take a look at the same line
when periods are simply added to help ease the transition...

          ..-----..
    ..---- ----..
----- ------

This isn't a good example because I really suck at this, but do you
understand where I'm going with it? The bends look smoother. Try
experimenting with characters that help objects bend. the / and \ are
very useful. Periods, commas, and apostrophes `'`' help too.

Here are some examples where an artist wanted to create curved lines
around the edge of the wings and did so utilizing characters that have a
slanted characteristic. Also, take note of the periods that help smooth
the transition.

                    _-. .-_
                 _..-'( )`-.._
              ./'. '||\\.       (\_/)       .//||` .`\.
           ./'.|'.'||||\\|..    )*.*(    ..|//||||`.`|.`\.
        ./'..|'.|| |||||\```````  "  '''''''/||||| ||.`|..`\.
      ./'.||'.|||| ||||||||||||.     .|||||||||||| ||||.`||.`\.
     /'|||'.|||||| ||||||||||||{     }|||||||||||| ||||||.`|||`\
    '.|||'.||||||| ||||||||||||{     }|||||||||||| |||||||.`|||.`
   '.||| ||||||||| |/'   ``\||/`     '\||/''   `\| ||||||||| |||.`
   |/' \./' `\./ |/\ /\| \./' `\./ `\|
   V V V }' `\ /' `{ V V V
   ` ` ` U ' '

Hope that helps... :-)

I'm sorta a newbie to the internet too, but if you download a .txt file,
it is probably binhexed (a kind of code) To decode this you will need to
download something such as Stuffit Expaneder (mac) or a similar type of
application for the PC. Hope that answer one of your questions

Can someone please tell me how to get help?

My name is Lonnie T. Ledbetter and I live in
El Dorado, Ca. A few years ago I stumbled onto a crime
being committed by the Government in Yolo County,
California. I was arrested on a misdemeanor and was
offered eight years in prison in exchange for a guilty
plea. I declined their offer and for more than eight
years have suffered atrocities and human rights
violations much too numerous to be adequately covered in
this message. I will list some of the more important
ones and hope you might be able to tell me where to find
help.

I was first subjected to a pre-trial hearing which
was held behind locked doors and closed to the public.
The only person's present were the judge (Donna Petre),
and my assigned public defender (Donald Lown). The
district attorney did not even bother to show up.
After being returned to my jail cell I filled out
a petition for a writ of Habeas Corpus. Without going in
to details it took three years for that petition to get
through the courts. It was denied at every level and was
actually held by the Circuit Court of the United States
for the ninth circuit for more than two years. The
Supreme Court of the United States refused to issue a
writ of Mandamus. A little more than thirty days later
it was denied without a hearing or explanation.
While all of that was going on I was held for
eighteen and a half months without benefit of a jury
trial. After filing the petition for the writ, the
judge, public defender, assistant district attorney
(Robert L. Day), and court stenographer (Susan Gorsch)
falsified the transcripts from my preliminary hearing to
conform to the complaints made in the petition. Those
transcripts are filed under two different numbers to
this day in the county recorder's office.
I made forty seven court appearances and spent
eighteen and a half months trying to get a jury trial. I
finally pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor in exchange for
being released with a sentence of time served.
I have subsequently filed more than twenty five
lawsuits in the federal courts and have been under
attack by the F.B.I. who use's everything in their
inventory to intimidate and torture me. High-Tech
equipment is used on me in my home and I am continually
harassed on the highways. All local news media is
somehow being suppressed and my telephone is tapped
and my U.S. Mail is confiscated if it is addressed to
anyone that might be of help.
Of the twenty five lawsuits filed in the United
States District Court for the Eastern District of
California, the following charges have been labeled
frivolous.
Denial of privilege of Habeas Corpus.
Denial of access to U.S. Courts for more than
     eight years.
Eight Years of torture by the F.B.I. and various
     local police agencies.
Attempted murder of U.S. Citizens, by agencys of
     the U.S. Government.
        Cruel and unusual punishment.
Use of automatic weapons placed around my home
     for the purpose of intimidation.
Destruction of my home by the F.B.I.
Mock trials and hearings behind locked doors.
Conspiracy between my public defender, the
assistant district attorney, and the presiding
judge to falsely imprison me for eight years for
the sole purpose of offsetting arrest statistics
     with appropriate prison statistics.
        Bad faith prosecutions.
Torture of U.S. Citizens by the U.S. and State
     of California Governments.
        False imprisonment.
        Illegal search and seizure.
Confiscation of U.S. Mail for the purpose of
     keeping me isolated.
Denial of due process of law.
Denial of the right to a speedy trial.
Denial of the right to be represented by counsel.
Denial of the right to a fair and impartial judge.
Denial of the right to trial by jury in both
     criminal and civil cases.
        Perjury by court officers.
        Perjury by court appointed professionals.
Denial of right to call witnesses on my own
     behalf.
Denial of the Equal protection of the law.
        False arrest.
        Police brutality.
Falsification of court transcripts by judges,
     public defenders, assistant district attorneys,
     and court stenographers.
Extraction of false confessions by use of false
     imprisonment.
Mind control techniques being used on citizens
     by the F.B.I.
Violation of the fourteenth amendment to the
Constitution of the United States by the President
     of the United States.
Denial of all human and civil rights as
guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States.
Illegal actions by a U.S. Magistrate.
Criminal cover-up by state and federal courts.
Falsification of court documents by court
     officials.

All of the above charges were made in the District
Court of the United States for the Eastern District
of California and were judged frivolous and dismissed
without plaintiff ever seeing a jury or opposing counsel.
Following is a list of those case numbers for
verification through the court. All dismissals have been
upheld by the Circuit Court of the United States and
labled "NOT FOR PUBLICATION". Certiorari has been denied
by the United States Supreme Court.

         CIV-S-89-1339
         CIV-S-89-1336
         CIV-S-89-1337
         CIV-S-89-1338
         CIV-S-89-1340
         CIV-S-89-1420
         CIV-S-89-0142
         CIV-S-90-0245
         CIV-S-90-0284
         CIV-S-90-0286
         CIV-S-90-1434
         CIV-S-90-1439
         CIV-S-90-1530
         CIV-S-90-0037
         CIV-S-90-0055
         CIV-S-90-0080
         CIV-S-90-0081
         CIV-S-92-0081
         MISC-95-0322

All of the above cases have been dismissed and
judged frivolous and labled "not for publication".
There are still three cases pending in the District
Court and one in the Court of Appeals.
Of the cases in the District Court, one case
(Civ S-95-1929) is against the State of California for
which the clerk has entered a default but refuses to
issue the judgement in accordance with the Federal Rules
of Civil Procedure. It has been in default for five
months and is for $275,000,000.00.
Another case (Misc.-95-0278)has been filed against
the F.B.I. and has been held by the court for more than
eight months and the clerk's office continues to refuse
to issue process in accordance with the Federal Rules of
Civil Procedure. I continue to be denied access to the
courts and continue to be tortured by the F.B.I. and
other police agencies.
All telephone calls I attempt to make for help are
intercepted by the F.B.I. and all of my U.S.Mail is
confiscated. I just recently discovered the Internet and
will continue to try to get my story out by Email. I had
a home page unitl last night. When I tried to view it
this morning I found that all of my files had
mysteriously dissappeared off my computer. When I
attempted to re-install my home page my access was
blocked and my phone connetion went dead. So if you
receive this message, please try to acknowledge receipt
of it by Email to dot...@inreach.com . If I am successful
in getting this message to anyone, I would appreciate it
if you would pass it on to anyone and everyone that will
read it. I'm praying for responses to be sent to the
U.S. District Court of the United States for the Eastern
District of California, 650 Capitol Mall, Sacramento,
California 95623, United States of America. The District
Court has now labelled me a vexatious litigant in an
attempt to keep me out of the courts. It probably would
have worked except the F.B.I. refused to stop the
torture which leaves me with nothing to lose. The F.B.I.
has obviously decided that my death will be the only
acceptable end to this ordeal.
The purposes of the actions by the Yolo County
Court, and the Federal Courts is to cover up the
conspiracy that was revealed to me through my eighteen
month ordeal there.
The courts are handing out, outrageous prison
sentences to all out of county residents arrested there,
for the purpose of offsetting an astronomical arrest
record being created by arresting local residents and
releasing them so they can be re-arrested. The purposes
of all this is to justify the construction of a
$600,000,000.00 marina.
The Federal Government is contributing to this
elaborate conspiracy by donating $50,000.00 periodically
to Yolo County for conducting so called sting operations
which add to the already astronomical arrest records.
Due to my attempts to expose this government
corruption I have been subjected to tortures that are
much to bizarre to even be mentioned here but can be
proven if I ever get a jury trial as guaranteed by the
seventh amendment to the Constitution. I am constantly
harassed on the highway by hundreds of automobiles. I
presently live on California state highway 49 which
normally handles three or four cars per hour, but since
I moved here seven months ago the traffic has increased
to more than one hundred cars per hour which goes night
and day through rain or shine.
Some of the less drastic tortures include the
artificial infestations of my home with rats, mice,
earwigs, spiders, snakes, living funguses, etc. These
have all been complained of in the U.S. District court
and have been labeled frivolous.
On March 16, 1996, my mother died in the Hospital
when she learned that she no longer had a home to
return to. She had shared the nine years of torture and
just could not go on. So far, I have lost my mother, my
home, my family, my friends, all of my possessions
collected over fifty years, all of my mother's
possessions collected over seventy five years. This
letter only scratches the surface of what has been done
and is being done to me every day.
Knowing how outrageous all of the above sounds, I
would like to say that all court documents are available
for fax to anyone that might be interested. I am
interested in reaching human rights organizations that
are willing to help. If that is impossible I would like
to reach large numbers of people willing to write to
the District Court and the President of the United
States and request that I be given and immediate jury
trial in accordance with the Constitution.
At the present time the State of California is in
default on a $275.000.000.00 lawsuit. The default has
been entered by the clerk but Dan Wagner of the District
Court refuses to issue the judgement in accordance with
the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. The clerk's entry
of default is available by fax to any interested party.
Any help you may be able to give me will be greatly
appreciated.

No superscript 3 in ASCII.

(It's 179 in Latin-1/iso-8859-1 and Windows-1252 "Western", however.)

What the hell is ANSCII?

If you mean ASCII there ain't a standard code for any superscript numbers. If
you mean ANSI, I don't know.

Why do you think you need the code anyway?

put <pre> tags around it, like this:

<pre>
,hah... no mere boulder can defeat me!
      ------- ,-. \o
   --------- ( ) |>
     -------- `-' ( \ kat
</pre>

Use the '<pre>' tag, like this (turn off HTML in your browser,
so that you can see the tags correctly):

<html>
<pre>

[ --==** Your ASCII art goes here **==--]

</pre>
</html>

That's all there is to it!

And make sure that you use actual spacebar-generated spaces in
your ASCII art; not TABs. TABs will not display properly.

If you place the ascii art between the <pre> and</pre> tags, the text should
keep its format on the web page.
