No. Everything runs locally in your browser: the video stream never leaves your computer, nothing is uploaded to our servers, and nothing is recorded. Closing the page (or pressing Disable) turns the camera off completely.
Open the tool and allow camera access when your browser asks. Your live video is instantly converted into ASCII characters in real time. From there you can pick a character palette, adjust colors and filters, apply effects, and copy or export the result.
The most common causes are: camera access was denied in the browser (click the camera icon in the address bar to allow it), the camera is in use by another application such as Teams or Zoom, or no camera is connected. The tool shows a specific message for each case with a Retry button.
