OK...point taken...but part of my tone/manner-of-speech was quite deliberate to emphasize that Usenet newsgroups are adult newsgroups and the language and manner of speech is adult. I doubt whether a 9 year old could have any clue about "Usenet"; "hierarchies"; "netiquette" and all the rest of the jargon. Usenet is not here to cater for, and educate, children who apparently gain access to computers either at home and at school without supervision. Children clearly find the "alt.ascii-art" newsgroup...see pictures...and think " Ooooh funny pictures, I can do funny pictures " and jump in. In my view children using Usenet newsgroups should be supervised by someone because many newsgroups are just not suitable for children and those in charge of them are quick to attack Usenet and its adult users if their children get exposed to unsuitable material. Bottom line is that I think we should discourage children from using alt.ascii-art...it is not a children's newsgroup! i'm sure others will disagree with me but that is what Usenet and newsgroups are all about...individual opinions! Bye,
