Fix: Tools -> AutoCorrect and remove those offending autoformatting
entries! Works in Office95 and 97. Haven't tried 2000, so I can't
verify.

Not the most obvious place, but a simple Help search gave me the
answer in an instant. (rare occasion ;-)

You can also turn off most autoformatting options too. Another
ultra-irritating feature... I hate the way a piece of software thinks
it knows better how I want my documents to look.. Wonder how many
computer illiterate people are just stuck with these irritating
features just because no-one's told them how to read Help documents?
