This is where it all went wrong in our previous discussion.
We don't have the same definition about what ascii art is.

1)-Ascii art is a computer (!) artform. It uses the computer as medium.
The computer renders ascii art through the screen.
(note: ASCII has been created to exchange infomation from a computer
to an other, it is a product of the computer era: art using ASCII
can only exist on a computer).

2)-The component of ascii art is the American Standard blah blah...
   in short: ASCII.
ASCII includes: a certain amount of typogaphic characters
a certain amount of control codes
                   a certain amount of bits

ascii art uses: a certain amount of typogaphic characters
                   a fixed width font
                   a certain amount of bits

3)- An -ascii pic- is the result of the practice of ascii art.

note: I guess you can get ascii art on the wall if you project
the rendering of your screen on it. :)

Ascii art must use ASCII (as discribed above)as "material" (like a
painting must use paint).
When you turn an ascii art picture into a gif (or whatever) you get a gif
(a reproduction) of an ascii pic but it is not -technicaly speaking-
ascii art anymore.
(please note the difference between -ascii art- and -ascii pic-)

But: You can, indeed, save ascii pics in a bunch of different computer formats,
you can even print them. :)

As I wrote before ASCII (thus ascii art too) is a product of the
computer era: therefore art made on a typewriter couldn't possibly
be called ascii art.
I won't even talk about pencil & paper. ;)

How about a mad scientist? PeteCassoStein?

Well, I don't know who is right and who isn't (if someone is right at all).
Let history will be the judge of that and let's go back to drawing.

"The article is immersed in the gif format producing
immediate asciing, typical with non fixed font.
After about 15 minutes, the article is removed
and washed thoroughly in Shokwave solution. It is
allowed to dry in air, and may be HTML finished when dry."
