Yes but experience does not bear the statements to be true, at least in 
our age.

Bit like the theory of nuclear deterrents during the Cold War which put 
us within a bees dick of a nuclear strike with the Cuban missile crisis. 
Sounds logical but in practice not true, that's why we use science to 
test things rather than our gut instinct.
