All my ascii-art archives are on 5.25" 360K floppies with the
exception of the latest additions which arrive daily and await
transfer to the disks.

There is a huge advantage in transferring data to floppy discs for
both space saving and security.

I have now had 4 hard disk crashes and every time has required
reformatting the hard disk and loss of all data on it. If you like
to risk losing your data and archives leave them sitting on your
hard disk.
