Help with gifscii & figwin

Is there any documentation anywhere (in English) that explains how to use
gifscii ? I have not been able to use it without errors (mainly 'open
error') appearing each time.

Also, with Figwin/Figlet, is there anyway of printing a character made up of
several of those characters ?

e.g.

IIIIIIII
   III
   III
   III
   III
   III
IIIIIIII

or

HH        HH
HH        HH
HHHHHHH
HHHHHHH
HH         HH
HH         HH

(but much neater)...
