photo conversion for murals

First off, I totally understand the discrimination against photo conversion
programs by real ascii artists. You guys/girls have tons of patience.

Having said this, I have a serious question. I am working on a large mural
and would like to convert a huge, i mean really huge (6 foot by 12 foot) b/w
image through a program like gifscii to ascii code and then print it on a
home printer and tile it on a wall. A tall order made worse by my using
macintosh.

If anyone knows of a conversion program that can fill the bill, I need your
input.  It must be able to print in sections!

i think Paint Shop Pro has something like a convertion to text ... although it converts each pixel to char ... its a mess...

How about buying an OH projector instead? (I once bought a second-hand
one cheap from a school, it's probably 30 years old and it has a
separate button for the fan, but it works...)

If I were you I'd cut my image into peaces, eventualy resize them, and
convert them hier.

PS: We don't like conversion programs because they do such a poor job.
    ...and there's not much fun using them.
