I'm sure that if you put your mind to it you could come up with a nice Star
Trek 4 line sig.    :-)   Remember, the 4 line limit is not there to save
bandwidth, it is there to force you to be more creative!

People if you are offended by strong language then don't read this post.

THE most annoying organisms are self proclaimed net cops. These small minded 
little nazis suffer from the same psychological disorder as traffic wardens. In
life they have no power and so they get on the net, get into a little community
and it goes to their heads. God I loath their smug little messages, I was on 
irc the other day, called chaos, and this guy says you must use your real name.
I didn't realise what kind of a pathetic, power hungry piece of shit that I was
dealing with. 'Are you taking the mick because my parents decided to call me
chaos :)?' I asked, please note the smiley !. Bam he goes mad, bans my _whole_ 
site from his irc server.

I was forced to apologise to this revolting specimen, that makes jabba the hut
look sexy. I did it for the rest of the people on my site but he can stick his
server up his arse. I only hope one day a Muslim fundamentalist group kidnap
him, drill his teeth full of fillings (root ones preferably) and then force him
to eat cadburies cream eggs with the tin foil still on.

These walking adverts for abortions will one day breed out of society since 
they tend to spend most of their time staring at a computer screen and their
only sexual outlet is tossing off to gifs and jpgs from alt.binaries.pictures.
erotica. The net is one of the few places on Earth which is devoid of rules,
and we are all free. These miserbale anal retentives want to control it, don't
let them do. Post your sig as big as you want it. Hell make an eight page sig
and post it to any net cop.

Please do not post any flames because I have an automated flame kill file that
will ingore any messages from a certain indivudual.

	Well, I really don't care much for 'net cop' wannabes, heck, I work for
the campus cops. However, in most newsgroups, especially those where discussions
are often quite serious (for whatever reason), readers don't appreciate long
sigs. It does take up unnecessary disk space on news servers and the long term
effect is, the administrators cutting down on the number of days articles are
held due to lack of space. That's why we have newsgroups like this one,
dedicated to those gifted with creativity and/or a lotta patience.

	Agreed. This is especially bad on IRC where newbies with ops think
they're gods. I think I've a pretty good idea whom you're referring to. I've met
some jerks on #chaos also.

	This is where you're wrong. There may be no central governing body on
internet but different organizations have different policies on internet usage.
Most are adapted from the Code Of Ethics set by the NSF and are fairly reasonable.
As far as long sigs are concerned, well, I love to see what anybody's creative
juices have concocted as much as the net guy but in certain instances, it is
inappropriate to have long sigs. As noted in my earlier post, unnecessarily
lengthy articles which take up lots of disk space and not very many
institutions have the resources to support such a load. Our news server has
been overloaded several times and there's also been many discussions about
removing certain groups from the server due to excessive lengths of posts.
Bear in mind that we're talking about a server that carries hundreds of
newsgroups. The point it, you CAN post long sigs on the net, but, do you
really HAVE to? Plus, have you any idea how much it costs to put up articles on
the net?

	This is obviously not a flame. I merely wish to inform you and other
users the possible consequences of unecessarily lengthy articles in newsgroups.
So far, we have had our article retention time reduced twice (for several
newsgroups) due to lack of disk space and considerations for removal. The
internet is a place where the rights on freedom of expression is not infringed.
Let us exercise this right to the full extent but also, let's not abuse that
right.
