Hello bug

I have posted a binary for you in alt.binaries.pictures.cartoons,
since I've noticed that ppl becomes kind of angry with ppl who
post binaries outside alt.bin =)

Well, check there, it's about 160k

Three questions:

1 - Do You like it or not?
2 - Am I supposed to make the frame as it was in original to?
3 - If 'yes' then do I have to make the letters?

Yepp I like it, it was cute! Better than expected!

If you have to much spare time and want to you can make one with the
border with or without letters, depending on how much challenge you
want! =) Or just make one bigger! :^D

It is almost impossible for someone to make good stuff with the help of a
pic2ascii-converter. Believe it. :)

Wow! Thank You! I'm not using any software cause you can always say
when you se picture made by some kind of program. They dosesn't
smooth pictures. They only use 'lighter' or 'darker' letters to
show brightness of picture. Wan't to try such a program? Try 'jave'
and you'll see what effects it does. It's good program but if you
really wan't to make ascii-art you have to do it by yourself:)

Actualy I'm dealing with monumental problem of having no ideas
for new pictures:(

I'll try to make something with border. Maybe even with words.
No promises;) I can't make biiger one. I mean I can, but the picture
I have is very blury so drawing wouldn't be sharp. I mean I won't
be able to add more details than those what are in this picture.
The drawing would be only bigger...

I'm already there. Have used Linux as my main OS
the last couple of years. But there are unfortunally no
drivers for an LPT-scanner available for Linux =(

Linux is cool .. but hardly known for it's great hardware-support.
I don't think his odds finding a linux driver are good.

Often Linux has support for some hardware before other vendors do, as
long as the specifications are available. The problem with scanners
is that the SANE developers have a hard time getting the specs for a
large number of scanners, especially parallel scanners.

The SCSI and USB SnapScan scanners are supported well. I have an Acer
620UT which works beautifully with the SnapScan USB driver under SANE.
Unfortunately the SnapScan homepage for SANE doesn't list any parallel
scanners.

There is a project to support parallel-SCSI devices, which may make it
possible to use a parallel SnapScan as a SCSI device, but that's just
a guess.

"Agfa have refused to release protocol information."

Screw them!! I want my scanner to work w/ linux.
Perhaps I should write them and ask for a driver.
I suppose I'm not alone..

Download TWAIN driver, Install TWAIN driver, run your favourite
graphics program (or Imaging, which is shipped with WinME), select
your scanner and press Scan :-)

Where is the problem? I do not have exactly *this* scanner, but I
never had real problems (yes, I had problems when using IPhotoPlus
Lite, but with Paint Shop Pro Evaluation it worked).

Or does Agfa stop supporting WinME machines?
Or is your windows too crashy?
(Yes, in WINE, TWAIN drivers are a bit crashy, as a friend of mine
told me)

Well I tried to use the latets AGFA-driver, which they
say will work on WinMe, but it doesn't...

Where can I find a free twaindriver?

just a bit of scribble ...
someone playing an e-gtr (in darkness:)
the 'arrow' is an arm, shoulder and neck line
other hand is on the gtr's neck
scribbled it and thought "needs to be bigger"

*LOL*

This question is nearly as good as "Where can I find a free SCSI
driver"...

TWAIN is a standard for accessing scanner drivers (a bit like CAPI for
ISDN cards). You have to get the TWAIN driver that fits to your
scanner. No way out. Of course you can try drivers for other scanners
if they work.

Another question: What do you want to say with "It does not work". Do
you get a message "This driver is not for WinME" or what?

If the driver is the same for Win3.1/95/98/ME (I hope not), you might
have to use a 16-bit graphics program to use it - otherwise use a
32-bit graphics program.

Afaik I have the latest software installed.
It works fine with NT 4, but not w/ me.
I can install the software. Obligatory reboot.
It sais it updates the system registry or whatever
it's called on the enlish versions. I can start
the scanner program, but as the splash screen shows
up I also get a cute little box telling me I have
no scanner installed.
I've tried with the latest version as well as the
supplied version of the software.

Get what I mean with "It does not work"?

Are you sure you have installed the 98/ME version and not the NT4
version of the driver? OK, sometimes it is the same software for both,
but AFAIK accessing parallel port from a TWAIN driver is always
different.

OK.

Is it the same PC with dualboot or are this different PCs?
if they are different and it's a parallel port scanner check if you
have enebled EPP mode in the bios.

And, as i realized, the scanning apps provided with the scanner are
sometimes crappy. Try to scan from Imaging or another graphics
program.

I think you know that you should power on the scanner before swiching
on the PC (at least with some scanners).
