Surely there *were* no weapons of mass destruction?

Yeah, but Tran's saying that if they hadn't gone to war then rogue
states (hint: small country beginning with I) would have WMD, which they
didn't :\

It's funny how those non-existance weapons killed so many thousands of
people.

Not recently they haven't. They certainly didn't use any during the war,
if you could call it that - the worst weapons they had were RPGs,
whereas most of the other guys were just running around with AKs and
similarly petty weapons. They had no chance. And they're proving it by
showing that all they can do is strap bombs to people and cars - they
don't actually have any weapons of any calibre or magnitude.

He didn't need WMD to kill he found pistols and chipper shredders to
be plenty effective.

The chief element in an effective release of chem/bio weapons is the
delivery vehicle. Creating the mix of chemicals and/or cultivating the
necessary cultures is trivial, with the proper equipment (which the Iraqis
had in abundance). We know that the regime of Saddam had missile war heads
capable of dispersing bio weapons, and have recently confirmed that they
had 155mm artillery rounds capable of dispersing WMD's. Considering these
barest of facts, and knowing that Saddam had used bio weapons against his
enemies in the past (100's of thousands of deaths, by all accounts), the
argument that Iraq was *not* capable of launching a WMD attack, either
directly or through a terrorist proxy, is feeble at best.

As to your assertion that the Iraqis did not have high-tech weapons, you
should know that the Russians provided Iraq with a number of high-tech
weapons - they used the Iraq war to test weapons designed to defeat modern
armor and electronics.
