No, I am still using the same crummy ISP, who doesn't know what filters are
set on the news server, and depends on the "vendor" to set up and edit such
things. That may change, however. It are geographics that keep me using them.
Still, I may go to a cheaper ISP, and take out a suscription to something like
Dejanoose or Supernoose.

Using the q is an excellent suggestion; I will edit the original likewise.

Try a free NNTP (usenet) server.

I did a little websearching for you and found http://www.jammed.com/~newzbot/ (and a bunch of
other pages .. but this was the best)

It's a index of free NNTP servers updated regularly (using some sort of newsbot), which you can
search too.

I did this search on alt.ascii-art

up=alt.ascii-art

Check out piggy.rz.tu-ilmenau.de  ... it carries 26325 articles
from alt.ascii-art  .. wauv ! (my ISP's server only carries a few hundred)
And it gives me an OK speed too .. but you may want to try other servers depending on your
location.

I did some more research and found that nazgul.ifi.uio.no carries alt.ascii-art AND allows
posting (and gives me a good speed).. only has 478 articles though.
