Not a whole font set, but the name of my machine in ascii. I mostly see
it in a bold font, where it is easily readable and needs no improvement...
with a normal font however, the shades are absolutely wrong and people
had a hard time figuring out what it meant...

  dP"o  dP""" .dP8.  d8  dP.dP"o  ** dP"Yo  dP dP dP"""

                .dP8.
         dP""" d8oodP d8  dP

 .dP"o dP d8odP' d8odP d8ooo
 "bq. dP        dP dP
"oodP

Oh well, yes, so far i made it myself and have borrowed other people's
ideas, beginning with old Gutenberg...

Problems are with the -S-, -B- and -E- where the shading is absolutely
wrong. There isn's suposed to be shadows at all, I meant it to look
just like some bold italic font.

The -I- has the known problem with the "*" asterisk that some fonts
have as a very bright space filling "=X=" symbol and others more like
a degree-sign or i-dot in the upper half of the line.

Any improvement or helpful advice is very welcome, email or posts alike.

The problem is not with your font! It's with your machine name! :-)

Yes. When good little children eat all their vegetables, then, on the
night of the blue moon, when everyone is fast asleep, the Bean Fairies
tunnel their way up from their dark, cool caverns beneath the earth.
Pop! Up through the grass, they sprout like little mushrooms with
bright red caps. And carefully through the windows, to where the good
children sleep, to leave little boxes of tofu beside their pillows.
Bad children get tofu without the boxes.

Seriously, "beansidhe" is the Gaelic root for "banshee".

About the 3-line font. '"' is probably the best character for filling
the upper half of a space. Since this isn't adequate, how about avoid
using the upper half. Something like this:

  ooo, ooooo ,ooo, oo oo,ooo, oo ooo, oo oo ooooo
 d8oob d8oo  d8oodP dP8dP 8oo, dP dP dP d8odP d8oo
d8ooP'd8ooo dP  dP dP 8P booP'dP d8ooP'dP dP d8ooo

If you want more definition, shift to a different style. Use
line-drawing characters, like this:

  //==, //=== ,===,  //| // //==, == //==,  //  // //===
 //==< //==  //==// //||//  `==, // //  // //==// //==
//==='//=== //  // // |// `==// // //===' //  // //===

/me ROTFL!

Uh, no, it doesn't look half as nice on my screen that way...
...but maybe I just prefer round forms in letters.

Bean-Sidhe = BanShee, [Woman-Fairy] woman of the fairy fort, or fairy woman.
Goes around wailing about death in the family and the like. Not to be confused
with the welsh version, known as the Dribbling Hag :-}

Dont you people ever read soc.culture.celtic ;-}

BTW: Any knotwork, step pattern ascii work out there?

   Here's a slight varianion. All I've done is use the g to reach down
and close up the gaps.

  goog, goooo ,goo,  g,  ,g, goo, ,g goo,  ,g ,g goooo
 g8o8  g8oo  g8oogP gPN,gP  8og, gP gP gP g8ogP g8oo
doooP'd8ooo dP  dP dP 'dP  booP'dP d8ooP'dP dP d8ooo

   I'm not sure if that's an improvement or what.

   Maybe somebody else can diddle it some more. Small 2, 3 and 4 line
alphabets are interesting because of their use on system allowing only 4
lines on automatically included sigs.
