What do you mean with _'bottom up' > coloration_ in HTML? Well, to field the first question, yes, I set the <BODY BGCOLOR="#000000> On mine, anyway, as I personally find that black seems to make all the other colors come alive in contrast. and the use of <font color> is why I decided to use bottom up coloration. let me explain. (to all those of you who are not familar with html and have no intention of being, be prepared to ignore or be bored this will be a lenthy explanation so I can be clear) Well, the use of <font color> is a spammy use. everytime you want to use it, you need to use up alot of space on your screen. This makes it tough to simply colorize a picture, because you loose your picture in the spam. Take a small sword (forgive the crudeness, I'm making this one up now) o I Now, you want to make the thing colorized. but adding the /===\ colors looses the image. If you colorize from the top down, like ||| most have the tendancy to do, it starts to look like this: ||| ||| \ / ` <font color="#ffff00">o </font><font color="#c0c0c0">I </font><font color="#ffff00">/</font><font color="#d9d919">=== </font><font color="#ffff00">\</font> ||| ||| Anyway, as you can tell, you kind of loose the image. ||| and what is shown here is mild compared to what actually \ / Happens with a good sized picture. but even with the 3rd ` Line only being 5 characters, you linewrap in your picutre, making it really tough to tell what the rest of the picutre is. The linewrap distorts everything below it, making it tough to decipher what it is you are dealing with on the line you are on right now, let alone later lines. This is why I said I used the bottom up method. If you make the last color changes first, instead of top down, you still distort everything below you due to font color spam, and linewrap, but it does not matter, because everything below you is alredy colorized. So I guess what I meant by bottom up was just to do the coloration backwards. From the last change to the first change. Then all that annoying linewrap and such does not effect you. For all I know, people always do it this way. I have only colorized three images on my page at http://www.geocities.com/athens/parthenon/9573 and just that pumpkin that I displayed on here a while ago and the fish were quite spamfull for coloring them. I can't imagine how much was involved to colorize joan's cock-a-too. From the top down would have been next to impossible. But in the long run it can make a picture look 100 times better. Some pictures can be done with just colors. A box of 8's in black and white, and a nice picture in full color. And even without ansi, we can all do it with simple html in a homepage. :) ______ ____ _ _ ____ /```````/_____ _________ (__ / | __| | | | | / ___\ /______ /______\ __,--^` / /_ | _| | |_| | |___ \ ` /____ ___\ /_____) |____| \_____/ \____/ /_..-----`
> > : 'course, if you want one that looks good, do it in ansi, instead! Well, I have enjoyed making most of my artwork (the little I have as of yet) color by putting it in html and into my web-page scrapbook. HTML is fairly easy to master, and as long as you do 'bottom up' coloration, it is easy to colorize pictures, as well. > > -- > > Off topic question...why do you have the two points in the up direction > instead of going downwards? > Actually, the Pentagram, by ceremonial definition alone, is technically 'pointing down'. By popular western cultural definition, this means an inclination towards evil, or the intention of using said power for such. The Pentacle, which as it was pointed out these are not, is 'pointing up' to signify an inclination towards good, or more helpful use of power gained from the said ceremony that the pentacle is used for. Oh, and in my rather vast knowledge of spritualistic matters, (I'm interested enough to be a parapsychology major) NIETHER of these actually have any use. The only real power I have ever seen from any symbol such as these, (and as all of these, the power comes from the symbolism, not the shape itself) comes from what has been known for centuries as the 'witches star'. The witches star is a six sided star with a circle around it, and then thirteen little stars on the outside, and then another circle, the little stars and double circles basically making up a detailed border. But more popularly used as just a six-sided star with a circle around it. And this star was used in magical ceremonies for centuries before the Jewish religion ever removed the circle and took it for it's own symbol. Anyway, the point is, since true magic is done not with evil or good intent, but with only the end as it's goal, the symbol is not up or down either, and pointing both ways with the witches star, signifing submission to the fact of nature that no matter what our intent may be, the way of both the world and of the magics created in it are not good or evil, but an accumulation of everything. (sorry about the length, I just realized this looks more like a report on ceremonial symbolism in the western tradition than a quick answer to a simple question. :P ) Zeus

What do you mean with _'bottom up' > coloration_ in HTML? HTML? yuch... ansi looks much more beautiful... only, i dont think it works in some windows terminals... Nevertheless, if you want art (especially in dos), ansi is the way to go. If you cant get ansi in windows, i suppose html is decent... But I thought it was common knowledge... when "Pentagram" was asked for, I drew what i identify as a pentagram... i thought i mentioned that there was a distinction froom a pentacle... oh, well. A pentacle represents humanity, etc. and is generally accepted to be a "good" symbol. Looks a litte like a person w/ head at top, arms, and legs. A pentagram represents the inverse/opposite of humanity, satan, and is generally accepted to be a "bad" symbol. Looks a bit like a sheep's skull, which sometimes represents satan. It had many features not found in other programs, but it only did colors. The program is now defunct, due to it haveing too many bugs to get past pre-alpha testing. A newer version was started, but work was stoped and moved to my "Sometime" programs dir. If I get enough requests, I will pull it out of mothballs and continue work. Since it's *only* function was coloring ANSI/HTML pictures, all the features were designed just for that purpose. There are plenty of drawing programs out there, but compered to mine, they were a huge amount of extra work to get the same coloring. Also along the same lines, I was working on a completeley plug-in based GIF/ASC/ANS/HTM converter, which would convert between all of them. It was *not* a grayscale converter, but it would rather do an edge detect, and then use a brute-force method of picking the best characters/colors to use. It was also discontinued, not to be restarted, but if anybody else wants the job, ask. :-) Sorry to ramble, just rambleing. :-) -- --ran...@slip.net --Randy Gardner

Because I would have felt like a moron if I had said that. You see, I was a practicing witch for a while, too, (then I stopped practicing) Until I basically just changed termenology. Now, I refer to myself as a number of things, since witch has alot of preconcieved notions behind it. Since I was born with most of my alibities, and I don't require symbolizm to do it, I usually just refer to myself as a psychic. Not that that gives me any more insight into the history and folklore of spiritualism than does your current religion, witch is why I wonder why you mentioned it.
