Nope is an awfully blunt and a bit neive to talk about symbolizm that genrally everyone takes differntly. > > > As a long time practicing witch, I say a "pentacle" is a five pointed star Well, I'm glad you said it. Because I would have felt like a moron if I had said that. You see, I was a practicing witch for a while, too, (then I stopped practicing) Until I basically just changed termenology. Now, I refer to myself as a number of things, since witch has alot of preconcieved notions behind it. Since I was born with most of my alibities, and I don't require symbolizm to do it, I usually just refer to myself as a psychic. Not that that gives me any more insight into the history and folklore of spiritualism than does your current religion, witch is why I wonder why you mentioned it. (hoping someone got the play on /\ words) ][ > > According to some. There are other meanings as well. Star of Sulieman, et > cetera, et cetera... Actualy, Gaiya has been adopted by alot of various religions now. Most often it is refering to the Gaiya hypothesis, which is basically a metaphysical worldveiw that we are all of one consiousness. (I could get more detailed in the view, but I don't buy into it myself, and I would lose my own interest long before I lost yours) Basically, I think the name Giaya (I think we are all misspelling it, since we don't speak greek, and they used a different alphabet anyway) just sounds pretty, and kind of like a green earth kind of thing, so people just took the name. Too bad. Alot of people took my name because it's cool, too, and it just wastes it. And for the record.... As a practicing psychic :P and more importantly a student of the scientific dicipline of parapsychology, dealing with the experiential aspects of PSI, (meaning I do research on this stuff as a hobby) I can say that the general view is what I have mentioned in my privious post. Once you get into saying the the pentacle looks like a person and the other one looks like a skull (?) is usually just christian theory. As far as the actual practice of the MAJORITY of people who actually use these symbols, (not including everyone, of course) what I said was true. (at least in the western cultural tradition, witch is what we were refering to) And most importantly...
