Back on October 22nd of 2002 I started a series of 101 butterflies.
That work was put on hold after becoming homelessness and other things
kept getting in the way. For example I had finished about 30 that
never saw the light of day because my laptop had been stolen and as I
was homeless I had no way of uploading them or even makeing a backup
before going on the road.
Well Now I have time to start to start putting a dent in this this
series again. This is number 37. Number 36 came out 2 years and one
month ago.
Warning: following may cause people with an IQ over 100 to be sick
and, worse, those with an IQ under to be filled with joy.
Is there a lesson in all of this? Even after having ones whole world
taken away, having moved 3000 miles from where it started and having
lost everything that made starting the project possible it now takes
flight again. Even though more than two years have passed I was able
to reach for my dreams and let these dreams take flight so that their
colors could shin. The victims of Katrina too will have to recover
and restart so they can let their once partially completed dreams
start to fly. As the years go by each of the goals, ideas, hopes and
dreams of those people left with nothing in the wake of Katrina may
too start to show like a color storm of butterflies in the wake of a
life flooded with despair.

"Shining" references Similarities between "The Shinning" and "The Shining" - title of first segment - plot: Homer (Jack Torrance), winter caretaker at lonely lodge, goes insane - blood pouring out of elevator - hedge maze (topiary of hedge animals in book) - Bart (Danny) can read people's thoughts - Willy (Halloran), the benevolent gardener (cook), identifies Bart's (Danny's) gift - Willy (Halloran) calls it "the shin" ("the shine") - Willy (Halloran) tells him to call if he needs Willy - Maggie spells "Redrum" with her blocks (Danny keeps hearing the word "Redrum" -- "murder" backwards -- and not getting it) - a ghost in the bar offers Homer (Jack) a drink - Marge (Wendy) reads typewritten stuff by Homer (Jack) - "No TV and no beer maker Homer go crazy ("All work and no play make Jack a dull boy") - Marge (Wendy) leaves Homer (Jack) in walk-in cooler - Homer (Jack) is released by ghostly bartender - Homer (Jack) chops his way into rooms with an axe - "Heeeere's Johnny!" (famous Jack Nicholson line in movie) - radio for help fails - police station with Wiggum identical to Forestry Service station {bd} - Bart (Danny) uses Shin (shine) to call Willy (Halloran) - Willy (Halloran) has a picture of a Scottish (black) woman above his bed - Willy (Halloran) tries to save the day (Halloran doesn't die in the book, does die in the movie) - Jack freezes in the snow (in the movie) http://www.snpp.com/episodes/2F03.html

I'd thought I'd seen all the episodes. I don't recall that one. Great series. My favorite mini-scene is the intro where the cat is licking himself. Hilarious. The artists must be a real hoot to hang out with. > "Shining" references > Similarities between "The Shinning" and "The Shining" <snip> > http://www.snpp.com/episodes/2F03.html
