Nerd Boy two days in a row! Cool. Anyway, this strip took a long
time to do, maybe because I'm tired from my trip across Sweden,
or maybe just because it's hard to fit jokes into a plot. Stupid
story arcs, I should know better by now. How does ScaryGoRound do
it?

I like how the evil cloak guy's cloak settles down in the last
frame, kind of hesitantly and maybe even a bit disappointedly.

Wow! :D

> Hope you haven't converted your whole French into Karate yet ;-)

Not yet. :) I have to say, in all earnesty, that that translation
is totally awesome. It seems to me like French is the language
that Nerd Boy should have been written in! Everything seems much
funnier! I was actually laughing out loud several times as I read
that! :D

Anyway, I immediately posted some news about it on the website, but
I have to add something more permanent, like a French flag in the
upper left corner or something.

Quote from http://www.nerd-boy.net/

"I probably haven't mentioned the Polish translation of Nerd Boy,
since there's really no good place to link to; they only exist
on Usenet, in the group pl.rec.ascii-art. However, bug has done
such wonderful work with this, and his translations have sparked
discussions on pl.rec.ascii-art. So you should really do a search
on Google Groups to take a look at the sheer volume of work he's
done. If you know Polish, enjoy!"

So, Joaquim, you should take a look on this site
http://republika.pl/strefa_robacza/ there are 171 episodes of Nerdboy
in Polish. :)

Unfortunetly bug moved up to London, and don't have internet connection
so he isn't able to make new translations. I'll talk to anya_g (half of
Nerdboy translations) maybe she will continue it.

Aha, interesting! I took a look at http://asciipr0n.com/bug but didn't
find anything. Did he move his website? And.. where are episodes 1-89?
I think I'll have to download all the translations from Google Group
some day and simply put them on www.nerd-boy.net.

Sure, that would be great, if she enjoys doing it. Unfortunately I can't
speak a word of Polish (except "Hej", which is the same in Swedish), so
I can't enjoy them the same way as the French translations. However, I'm
really flattered that people would go to all that trouble translating
Nerd Boy.

Also, I find it kind of interesting that Nerd Boy seems to be such a
European phenomenon. Is that simply because ASCII in general doesn't
have a major following in the US or Asia? Who knows.

I don't know, probably he wanted to have second homepage. :-)

I was wondering... can I put Nerdboy translations also on www.ascii.art.pl ?
This is pl.rec.ascii-art website.

Don't worry I heard in TV that Polish is one of the most difficult

That would be excellent! Unfortunately, I can't see ascii.art.pl. Must
be my ISP that is being stupid again, it does that quite a lot.

It will be nice if other Japanese (Read Only Members or good
to speak/write) can reply this question...... Feel sorry if I miss-read your Q.

First of all, main stream is anci-ascii code art in Japan.
Very strange phenomenon but Japanese calls anci-ascii code art
as AA( ascii art ).
Maybe some of you had watched Japanese AA somewhere else.

As you know, anci-ascii code includes various character (font).
So people's way to express will expand more than using only ascii-code.
That's so sad but true.
The share of real ascii-art is very small, because AA(anci-ascii-art) is
so popular in Japan. If your PC can read Japanese font and Greek font,
please search google and take a look to Japanese AA site.

------

[OT] MONAA("monaa" in Japanese)

We Japanese have very popular and famous AA character.
It's name is "MONAA".
MONAA had made AA so popular in Japan, they said.
Most people recognized the cradle of MONAA was 2 channel.
( 2 channel is very famous bulletin board site in Japan )
But true cradle of MONAA is "strange world", some claimed.
("strange world "is another famous bulletin board site )
I think "strange world" is the true cradle of MONAA.

What I want to mention is that most Japanese don't mind who made AA drawing.
You can notice they never signature their AA, even never get permission
to copy and paste other's drawing.

This is totally my opinion. If Nerd Boy will translated in Japanese
and uploaded in Japanese site, maybe you'll be shocked that your drawing
will be copied and pasted, even diddled rudely with no permission.
Some probability exists.

But if it once happened, you'll never advertise yourself, people will do
by themselves while their passion will continue.
That is Japanese way to love their favorite characters. ;-)

As you know, there are much money making opportunity in Japan.
Especially we pay much money to the character goods like Kitty, Disney, etc.
Maybe exciting and little bit rude than Europe. ......How are other Asian and U.S.?

My, thank you ! Well, I guess you find the stories funnier because you
have a fresher view when you haven't written them. Sometimes they seem
quite dull to me.

Well, you didn't have to let me publish the translations, and I think it
was nice of you :-) I hope I'll release a few more this weak-end, once
I'm done with the presentation for my DEA degree (roughly a master's degree)
