Storing of ascii-art

Hello ascii-friends!
What are some good methods to store email-received ascii-pictures
in a way that I can paste them into my email-texts? Directly, of
course, not as attachment. I think of keywords like clipboard, new
file and converting. Am I on the right way? Thank you in advance
for your hints (in English, German, French or Italian).
Pierre from Binningen near Basel, Switzerland.

[Assuming you're a Windows user] Try Notepad, new file, save as
filename.txt. To copy, highlight the text/picture with your mouse and
press Ctrl^C, to paste press Ctrl^V (works both ways). No "converting"
needed.

while you are reading the message you want to save, try the FILE menu option at
the top of the window (if you are using windows), and then SAVE or SAVE AS...
that should do it quickly.

Thanks, Veronica and Tony, for your hints. Unfortunately, there is
always the same problem: Copying into a new file and pasting do work,
but the letters and signs are not formatted. They are horizontally
displaced. I'll continue to try to resolve the problem.
Thanks and greetings, Pierre.

It sounds like you need to read the FAQ:

It sounds to me like you have "Word Wrap" turned on in notepad, turn
it off, (edit, Word Wrap, click to set on, click to set off) and see
what happens next time.

From what you are describing you maybe still useing your system fonts
which could be set on arail to view the art that is being copied an
pasted. Change to fix width font for your system an e-mail (couirier
news or fixedsys) are some. However there are enhanced notepads that you
can use indapently of the system, but the e-mail program should set to a
fix width font display.
An enhanced notepad that comes in mind that is very user friendly is
CNotePad might help out some http://www.cetussoft.com/freeware.htm
