Swastika apology

Swastika apology

alt.ascii-art · 6 messages · 9 Nov 1993 - 11 Nov 1993
I am sorry for posting that swastika. Please note that I do not support
the Nazis and in fact I am not German or even Caucasian. It was just
a historical symbol.
I should have added something to the original posting instead of just
drawing it but that's not the point now. Let's forget it and go back to
having fun.

As much as I don't support the Nazis, I can not agree with your apology.
By doing this, you did not stand up for your right to post whatever kind
of asci-pic you want. You do not see people bitching about the nude ascis,
why then should a swastika be flamed? The Nazis were able to take control
because an entire nation did not stand up for themselves ... do not be just
as bad as that nation.

No kidding. Never thought I'd need a KILLFILE for _this_ newsgroup...

ObQuestion: Can you use a smiley to complete a parentheses set? Like below-

I have no problem with the post of the swastika, but just the discussion and
such that happened as a result of it. Hey, if it's ascii art of _any_ kind
fine, (you can see it once and be done with it if you don't like it) but
take the other stuff somewhere else.

If i am not wrong, the Nazi swastika is not the same as the eastern
buddhist/hindu swastika. The arms are pointing the other way around.

Buddhist banners use both clockwise and anti-clockwise swastikas.
I thought that the nazi swastika stood on a corner rather than on
a 'flat'...
Anyway, I remember being most surprised seeing swastikas in a
Buddhist shrine room. Whatever it used to mean I'm sure it'll
be a long time (if ever) before the swastika symbol can be
'rehabilitated' from it's nazi associations.

\ this looks truly awful, but you know what I mean ...
