Rate the Nerd Boy strips!

OK, since I'm very lazy and I need to go to bed right now, I'm just copying the news post I made to www.Nerd-Boy.net today. Here it is... --- Yep, it's finally here, the feature you've all been waiting for! Or not, which is much more probable. Either way, you can now tell me what you think of the different strips. Take a stroll through the archives, click the numbers if you wanna and have fun. Also note the menu moved, since it took up so much room where I wanted the "Order by" thingies to be. Concerning security... There _is_ no security. I thought of some ways to check that a person has voted for a certain strip. It boils down to cookies and checking IP. They're both very silly, so easy to circumvent that you'd probably do it by accident, and frankly not worth implementing. Too much work and no payoff at all. This means that you could in fact rate a strip several times. You could, but then every time you go to bed, you would feel a pang of guilt and regret, and not be able to sleep. You know the one I mean, when your stomach knots up and you feel like a total idiot and your face feels kinda hot and you wish you'd never been born. You don't get that? I get that all the time. -- OO Joaquim Gndara .||. http://www.Nerd-Boy.net bb jg

But, erm... "chad" isn't in my dictionary. Just a guess: Do you mean, the voting paper can be viewed from behind and so it's not secret? Well, this could be a possible explanation. But please look at the backside of this posting, where I give two other explanations and a nice little ob-Ascii. R@ineR

If the reference is an online one, could you please be so kind and tell me the URL? I am still a little uncertain, whether I guessed correctly. I am not really sure about the "hanging chad". This must be something special I don't know. R@ineR

This must >be something special I don't know. This goes back to the suspicious events surrounding the voting system in Florida used during the elections that saw George W. Bush being elected as US President. The "hanging chad" refers to the fact that a large number of the voting cards were badly manufactured, and so the chads that the voters pushed through to choose their candidate were loose. This meant that, by the time the votes were being counted, the loose chads were either hanging by a thread, or had fallen off entirely. Each of these cards had to be marked as "null votes" because there were two or more chads that had been pushed through the card, as though the voter had voted for multiple candidates. -- Graeme Porter -^-_ _ / [_][_]_:_ Proud owner of a 1978 /| _||_ v Pearl Fiberglass Shell kit | / \ | -=/=\\____//=\=jaa "I married Miss right, I just didn't know her first name was 'Always'" -- Anonymous
Thank you very much for the detailled explanation. Well we all heard of the non-funny things during the election. But it takes a little more than standard knowledge of the english language to get the point. But now ... thanks. R@ineR

Of course he was duly elected - by the electoral college. Whether the majority of the population wanted him or not, doesn't really matter (or at least shouldn't matter according to the USA system).

One point for lament. I can't stand the bush personally. But he was
lawfully elected.

I hit random now & if I hit the middle of a story line I skip it (unless I find it really humorous). The stand alone ones I've noticed have a random rating, some of the ones that I can not relate to I don't find very funny, others that I can relate to I've seen had a lot of 2's or 3's and I gave it a 5 or a 6. Realizing that I've come to the conclusion that humor is arbitrary and prolly should not be rated. Some things are JUST funny (talking animals, spray bottles, pies in the face) other things heavily rely upon personal experience. So, when you are looking at the ratings & NO ONE seemed to like it, take heart, it was still likely funny, it was just that the wrong people have viewed it.
