? creating coloured Ansi images

Hi!

Is there any way to create good-looking colour Ansi images from existing
bitmap files automagically?
I'd like to convert a pic into data that can be displayed on an Ansi
compatible terminal. Netpbm only creates "traditional" "black-and-white"
ascii-art.

It'd be cool if someone could give me a hint.

Greetinx,

Well yes, there sure is. Try my program png2ansi available at

Png2ansi uses (only) 8-bit chars. Is that a problem?

I have a program called POSTER.EXE, freeware, if you want it I could send
it to you because I don't know of any place that has it on-line. Maybe it's on
CompuServe because that's the last known address of the author.
It converts whole pictures or windowed selections of pictures to color
ANSI, formats it converts are (ICO, GIF, BMP and PCX).
Please reply via email quoting this message if you want it because I might
not see it here for a while.
