Yes, I used to believe that pigmentation is due to sun exposure, 'til I
realized most blondes are only blondes on the end that _is_ exposed to
the sun ... How do you explain that ?

How do you explain that ? Blond people get more blond when the sun bleaches their hair. Some brown-haired people are also really "dark blond" and turn blond after e.g. a holiday to some sunny place.
