I found a link that was interesting. They used different fonts to make
a picture. You have to put it in an image file to be easily viewable.
Take a look and see it this is what you were thinking of.
Its the link "Reinventing ASCII Art".
Merry Christmas to us all. :)

Interesting, but not quite what I was thinking. The pics shown could be just as easily painted. Specifically, I was thinking of traditional ASCII art. But, instead of working in courier, have you tried to do a picture using Times-Roman? Or some other font? If posted, you would have to tell us what font to set our newsreaders to. Years ago, I took a printing course - at that time Helvetica was popular. Approximate width counts were something like: 1/2 for i and j; 1.5 for caps or m; 2 for M; etc.

Now and then the odd ASCII picture looks awful when I see it in Courier instead. I have an angel thats quite nice but I think she looks terrible when I see her in Courier somewhere. Bug uses Lucinda font. But so far everything looks fine in FixedSys too. I don't change fonts to see his ASCII. More like painting with predefined symbols - or like a collage. > > Interesting, but not quite what I was thinking. Of course that's the dark side of ASCII, so I don't go there and cannot recommend good links. ;) Try the Macrohouse: http:// neptune.spaceports.com/~machouse/main.html or the macrolist: http://www.macrolist.com/ :) Andreas ________________________________________________ http://www.ascii-art.de
