i am looking for a ascii to gif converter, can anyone tell me a URL that i could find 
such a thing on?

I just downloaded a GRAPHICS TO ASCII CONVERTER called
MARKXY01.ZIP (16K) off ftp.drcdrom.com/Coast/win3/graphics/
