Everytime I try to use an ascii signature, it ends up shifted when it's
received. What am I doing wrong?

Two possibilities:

You could be using tab characters and the receiver doesn't have their
tabs set the same as you. (Moral: don't use tabs--use spaces.)

You could be using a proportional font, or your receiver is using
a proportional font. You should use "Courier" or some similar fixed
font for editing or viewing any file containing ASCII art.

Please make sure that your signature is less than 76 columns in width. 99%
of email programs wraps lines that are longer than 80 columns. Though most
programs wrap at 80 columns, some programs/sendmail configurations wrap at
smaller column size. I've found that I can usually get away with a
76-column .sig =]

'hope that helps =]

A man's life is but a war,
Not a war fought for a state,
But one fought against oneself.
He need never to fight alone;
For he shall always have
The companions of the heart.

Brings back memories of my sig problems months ago. I would guess that
you have perhaps changed your font from Courier. Proportional fonts
will throw sigs and ASCII's out. Just change it back to Courier.
