This are just too great... I am a hero. No need to kiss
my feet or anything, folks. But it's just too good to
let pass up. I only wish I could post this URL in the
clear, without spacing, but my ISP's news server catches
posts that contain URL's, and they don't go no where.

Oh well....

I took a look especially on the 'mirc ascii' site...got a
lovely aladdin's lamp which is not credited which is joan's--and several
more that is not. I also peeked in a few 'ascii art downloads",
particularly mystic zip file, and alas the same thing--omissions of
initials or identity of original ascii artists. Lady graciously admits
errors or omissions are not deliberate, however, Im afraid the situation
of uncredited, altered or miscredited ascii art will always exist due to
files such as these being 'accepted' and 'packaged' in zips and
available for circulation. It can start with one person and perhaps a
domino effect will occur--not to distribute uncredited art or 'hide' the
original artist's identity in the background. Many a point/counterpoint
has been taken on these issues, so Im stepping down off of the podium,
but not too far from it :)

I once wrote to her to tell her that a link to my homepage had changed.
Nothing odd about that, right? Well, she got the idea that I was
*insulting* her and sent me a lovely little flame telling me how she
would remove the link and *never* link to my homepage again! It seems
like this "lady" is just a really cranky person. :-D

Yah... It's called TMS. Terminal Menstrual Syndrome. Sometimes the victims of
this dreaded malady can be cured, by removal of the pituitary and pineal gland.
Sometimes this is accompanied by removal of the hypothalmus, too. However, since
there is already general degradation of the brain tissue, this isn't always
possible, as the victim would them be left brainless.

Oh well. At least she's funny.

This isn't always the typical behavior, fortunately. Many of the more
modern IRC color enthusiasts have changed this practice, and are continuing
to do so.

Still... I have never really understood why anyone would want to color and
"play" someone else's picture. It's far more entertaining to make your own.

... And to that effect... I reckon I should make some tutorials along those
lines.

I emailed with her a couple of times a year or so ago and I thought
she was pretty nice. As far as I can remember I was writing about some
dead links on her site. I had reviewed the site for a newsletter I was
writing for at the time.

I'm glad that someone else thinks that
she has been pretty nice. I've had several emails
from (and to) her... she's been very nice and
pleasant towards me. Of course, I figured that
if I just posted my impressions, I'd get someone
to accuse me of saying nice words only because
her site mentions me several times. No bias
here... she _HAS_ been nice to me.

And as for the "colors" - it's pretty much the norm
if you visit mIRC. Many of the pop-ups are very
brightly colored. They are limited to 16 (I think)
colors. That's it. I think most mIRCers make up
for it by adding lots of colors to their text images.

Agreed, she ought to go through the zipped files
and add credits where she can. It's a lot of work.
It ought to be done. So much of this is 'hobby'
stuff. I know I should do things with my website.
ie. eliminate the nbsp garbage, update my javascripts,
etc... but finding the time and energy to do it is
another story. Most of us have "real" lives too.

Hey, that is a cool coolsuit.
Is that planet earth in the backgound?

Thanks, but I'd rather use something comfortable.
