Greetings, a special thanks to JGS for mirroring these images. But I
have run into a real silly problem I've been working on for the past
couple of hours. One image is above the other one. I need these two
fairies on the same lines facing each other. I went to the ascii chat
room, and was refered to try it in html. I did try the tags specified,
yet the application still is not facing each other. Could any with the
proper program whom can simply cut and paste one fairy facing the
other do so and remail it to me? I did try it in 'pain' wordpad'
'notepad' and within my Unix shell as well, all of which produce the
following results.

Well HERE YOU GO then. <chuckle> Gee it sure is nice to be able to
work in *DOS* and actually be able to get things done.

I'll post it in the group and I'll email it to you as well. All yours,

Here is the complete conversation from "the chat" (hehe, there might be
more than one chat you know... last I heard there were at least twelve...
but anyway, it was my chat he was talking about (see sig)):

[please note the times. The message quoted above was sent at 19:54 and
the last of his messages below was posted to the chat at 19:33 - i.e.
NOT "a couple of hours"]

Hi, sorry, I had a phone call. But in answer to the earlier statement
about me learning to do it. Believe me, in all honesty, I have tried.
I read the FAQ, and Ascii for beginners, and went as far as downloaded
a .dos ascii graphic builder and spend 6 hours on it. But art is not
my forte'. I asked the artist whom made this drawing to invert it and
she was more than happy to help. In fact, she is also working on another
ascii. :+) But, I don't want to push my luck, so am hoping you guys
can set it so these fairies face each other on the same lines, and sorry
for the spam that follows.

These are the two pics, I have been working on for the past 3 hours, and
cannot get them to face each other. *sigh* Any assistance?

OK, there are several methods:

1. Find out if there is a way to "cut out blocks" in some text editor
in your computer. Learn how, and then do that. (that's why I want
to know about what computer/OS you're using...).

2. Cut-and-paste each line. This is the simplest (but not the most
   efficient) method.

3. Copy the whole bloody thing by hand, one character at a time!
   (very inconvenient, but perfectly possible!)

4. (I made this one up now, don't know if it will work though)
Think up some trick with html tables.

   <table><tr><td>
   first
   pic
   here
   </td><td>
   second
   pic
   here
   </td></tr></table>

then load the html document in a browser and cut-and-paste from
there... (like I said, I haven't actually tried this one).

Okay, *smile* Thanx for the aid, I'll try the html code you gave, I had
thought to do that, but was unfamiliar with the tags. *smile* thankya

[I just tried that html trick - didn't work]

I just wanted to make it clear that I did _not_ recommend that he use that
html idea. I did recommend that he try method number 2 - to cut-and-paste
each line... Surely _that_ can't have taken several hours!? A couple of
minutes, yes, a couple of hours, no! Even suggestion number 3 - copy each
character by hand - wouldn't take that long. Excuse me, but I think this
guy is just being * L - A - Z - Y * !

    | trouble trying to get others to do it for you...) |

One could, one could, but this one doesn't do .exe
But it'll probably run on humans aswell =)

Hmm.. can this one compile C, then?

  http://www.sci.fi/~iltzu/ascii/tools/aflip03s.zip

Hmm.. v0.4 will probably include automatic duplication of the pic, if
there are people out there who want it.

[][ hi ...

i've got your v0.3 and its a pretty cool prog. small too.
doesn't require a 386 cpu either ... which is nice ... more portable :)

i havn't been able to use it in ernest yet ... i'll try make time to give it
a full bench test.

altho' one nice enhancement over the original unix code is the mapping
of the alphabet characters too ... must've taken you ages to diligently
translate them.

also only glanced over the source, looks like the core of a very flexible tool.
the supplementary mapping file capability allows possible use as a language
translation tool ... which, i think, is what 'tr' was developed for.

sorry havn't replied sooner ... i'm rushed off my feet ... alas, there aren't
enough hours in a day :(

i'll look forward to v0.4 whatever functionality is added.

fortunatly for me, i have access to the web ... some people can only receive
news (happend to me for a while once, couldn't even e-mail either) ... so they
missed out! ... p'raps if enough people bleat about it you'll post it to
alt.ascii-art.animation ?

anyway...
fanx for sharing your code with the web :)
