How can I view DOS-ascii in Win95 without starting "Edit" in DOS-window???

Many nfo files in WareZ groups are written in some DOS ASCII art. How
can I easily view them in Win95? Is there a special text editor that
can handle them? It is possible of course to start "Edit" in a DOS
window. This is rather cumbersome however. Any clues?

That is ANSI you are probably talking about, not ASCII. There are a bunch of
ANSI viewing programs, TheDraw and ACiDVIEW come to mind right off the bat.
Both programs can work in Win95 in windowed states or full screen.

	There's no suitable replacement to view the DOS/IBM Extended characters
as they were intended unless you're really in DOS.

	However there are some fonts that do come close, such as MS LineDraw.
View your text using MS LineDraw and it will atleast give you the characters,
but some will appear "seperated" or "spaced apart" unless you scale to a small
font size.

	Your best bet is just pop open a DOS box, go fullscreen and view them.

To use edit in win95 just click the start button, then click run, type
in edit and hit enter. You'll still be in windows and using edit. If
you want to view them with true DOS ansi color codes just put a line
in config.sys, like at the end, that says 

devicehigh=c:\windows\command\ansi.sys

then you can fire up the dos prompt from inside windows without
exiting windows and view DOS ansi/ascii files with either the command 

type filename

or the command

more<filename

this is a little off topic,but i will help you.
what you need to do is:
pop up explorer
find a .nfo file
left click on it once
[shift]+right click on it
select OPEN WITH
a box will appear [ya have seen it b4 havent u]
click on button marked [other]
browse for edit and double click on it (its up to you to find it)
make sure box that says "all ways use this program to open this file"
is checked.
then click [ok]

it will open the file with edit and
if you double click on a .nfo file ever again
it will use "edit" to open it as default.
