hi,

I copied this magnificent ascii art to my notebook and then assigned the
file as my signature file. The only prob. I have is that those two lines
that appear after this text, appear every time I write a new message.
Does anybody know how to get rid of them?

Thank you

Marcus

You mean these?

They are your sig separator (actually that's two lines and a space).
They tell the rest of us that this is your signature, and our news
readers can adapt to show it in a suitable font and colour, or to ignore
it completely (depending on our individual preferences). It also enables
people's news readers to automatically ignore it when they reply to your
post. In other words, those two little lines (and a space) are a Good
Thing and you should be happy that your software is smart enough to
include those for you automagically. Usually it's the other way around:
newbies get flamed for *not* having those two little lines there! (I do,
however, predict that your sig will eventually get flamed for its size
if you use it in any other group than this one...) :-)

See, I have one too! :-)

Yeah I did two of em...just to be annoying, one the X times symbol and
the others a reversed `
Gimmie some time, I'm not done with it yet, I want to include my
website and such along with the geek code, but i want to keep it as
short and sweet as possible, a huge challenge, if only there was a
newsreader as scriptable as mIRC for irc, I'd be fine.

Mine doesn't work that way, and I'm glad for that. ( I notice I'm not
the only one using Pine )

I can edit my sig block at any time, even now before I transmit.
This time I'll add the two lines just so you can know where it is.

Ben, that's a bit over my head. I see you have Pine.GSO.4.21

I don't, and you won't find PINE.EXE or PINE.COM on my comp. I use
a shell account and pine is on the system used by my ISP.

They have Pine 4.02 though I prefer 3.96 that they replaced last year.

Since Pine comes from the Univ. of Wash. I suspect they use grads
for their updates.

That would explain why there is no purchase cost to use it.

Also, you can't use windoze 3.11 on my sys, unless you know the
special key to call it. And, you won't find Win98 on my sys.

I plan on sticking with DOS 6.22 or perhaps switching to Linux.

I don't like windoze telling me how to use my comp. I do just fine
with ASCII text. Ever hear of PCWrite? Great word processor.

John

you will probably have to switch to linux if you are going to
be able to get any new dos only programs
come to the land of freedom
there is even a dos emulator and a dos-to-linux-howto
that can help you get started

Why are you glad for that? What does it help you? I'm just curious, I
can't think of anything helpful that would need to have them _not_
included? *scratches*

Me either - I don't know of any newsreader that doesn't let you do
that? At least non of those I used or have seen. I would call that a
broken behavior....

> This time I'll add the two lines just so you can know where it is.

Would you be so kind to add a space also after the two dashes? Then
your signature-delimeters would work fine :-)

 Have fun!
