Why the NEED for recogintion.

This is not to offend people or to encourage others, but I have to raise
this question. I am new to this newsgroup (reading for 4 months, posting
1 month), so an explanation of your personal feelings (not malicious
attacks) is all I'm looking for. I simply want to understand.

Why do some people get so upset with not having their name plastered all
over the place?

I have been really thinking about this. I feel that only when my art is
being credited to someone else, is when I feel betrayed. But I have seen
my snail on a couple of people's SIGs and without my initials. All I
thought of was how cool it was that they liked it. Sometimes initials
don't even fit in a pic for SIGs and email headers, so people take them
out. I say big deal. I know I am not even half the artist that some of
you are, but it is just how I feel. I guess I am a share the wealth kind
of person.

The other side to this is those who strip them and pawn them off as
their own. I see no good reason for that and they should be spammed for
it. But when it comes down to it....who cares if they are shallow and
feel the need to be important, so they steel to get their personality
high. I mean write them a nasty email using your favorite anon. emailer
and forget it. 

A thought to help stopping this some was that we all do a reply to the
post with the subject line: Ignore Originating Post

And the message would simply say something like: This art work was
improperly credited by "this person" and it was originally done by "this
person" Please do not add to this person's ego and ignore their post. 

This way, we, as a whole newsgroup, can make a stand by each of us
knowing it was a stolen peice of art and not a chance of just creating
the same thing. If we have enough people reply ditto to these, we will
know that none of us are just reacting and that we all agree. Just an
idea. Plus new people coming through here will also know who the bad
people are....which in the long run helps deter this from happening
further.

Anytime I post something I got from some unknown origin, I simply say I
don't know who did this one, but it is one I liked, so I included it. To
me THAT IS ENOUGH!

If you let them know it's yours, great! But why write a 2 page thing
about how unfair it is. We all know it is unfair, just make you comment
and go on.

I love this newsgroup and I look forward to sitting down twice a day and
looking at our stuff. THE BEST ON THE WEB, if I can be so bias.

nice and helpful to me and I want you all to know I appreciate it. *S*
Actually I have spent more time here than my normal alt.magic,
alt.magic.sectrets and alt.music.led-zeppelin newsgroups....This is now
my favorite. *W*

I'm not really meaning to add to the flames here, but what about things like
composite pics? For one of my sig files, I found an ascii-art pic of a horse,
and an ascii-art pic of a dragon. I dropped the dragon wings on the horse, and
gave it a horn. The whole thing was cut and paste. Who do I give credit to?
and why, if it's only a sig file?

Thank you! As I said, it's a cut and paste job from more than one pic, but
it's not exactly an original pic.

Don't always use the sig on newsgroup posts, in fact, I tend to go without
it unless I'm doing personal mail. But I like it!  :) Fits this group, too!

I would like to know if anyone has done any ascii art of any biblical
figures throughout history..  i.e.  Moses, Jesus Christ, any of the apostles
or prophets..  Or maybe someone has a piece of art that could be passed off
as religious?  :>

Any help would be greatly appreciated..
