PetecASSo, why don't you just go away?
Perhaps you are the 'kangaroo' from the
alt.life.sucks threat? I would assume that
you enjoy ASCII art.. otherwise you would
have never come up with the 'stein' cartoons,
why are you intent on ruining the NG?
Do you find enjoyment in digging your own

Ha ha, Spunk-ASS-stein, now you begin to understand that I may disrespect your

Get your arguments right.... I never

have the stein characters-- all of them.

That's not what I said.

What I said was that you ridiculed copyrights, and in so doing, weaken the
already virtually non-existent awareness of ascii art copyrights. This damages
your own "keep initials on the pic" insistance, which is nothing else but an
explicit assertion of copyrights, even if you are not aware of it.

Oh please, reread what you yourself wrote...
that *I* disrespected *YOUR* copyright.. I did
no such thing. In fact, if you go back and
check dejanews, you'll find that I supported
your copyright claim...

The thanks I get, dear Pete, is that you play
around with the credits of my ASCII art. (and others)

>What I said was that you ridiculed copyrights, and in so doing, weaken the

Of course I am aware of copyrights... you
obviously have not been to my website... I
have had links to internet copyright info
and intellectual property sites for close to
a year.

I don't think that there is a 'virtually non-
existant awareness' of copyrights within
this newsgroup... er, have you forgotten
the issues of Lennert Stock and the ascii
art software? There is an awareness...
Most people seem to pay attention to credits.
Occasionally there are newcomers to the
newsgroup who are not aware of copyright
concerns. The FAQ does refer to it and if
transgressions do occur, they are confronted
by regular members of the newsgroup.

What you have been doing recently-- changing
credits on ASCII art pictures is malicious and
cruel... it does not serve any purpose except
to show that you don't follow your own rules...
(do as I say and not what I do...) you have set
a poor example of yourself. And in return,
you have made a fool of yourself.

Not to mention the fact that many newcomers
to this newsgroup will now copy and use the
mis-credited ASCII art.... You have done a
mis-service to the artform which you obviously
enjoy.

Another thing that I don't understand, is that you
have requested that no one repost your
characters-- even though at one point you
encouraged it. It reminds me of the time that
I linked to your site and you requested that I
remove the link. You want your stein characters
to be popular, but you seem to cut off your
nose despite your face.

Perhaps it is time that you grow up Pete... and
act like an adult... (you are, aren't you?)

Spunkystein's laments along the lines of "that's the only reward the ascii
artist gets" is not effective, people continue committing copyright
infringements on her pics, even Colinstein does it.

More effective is to make clear to perpetrators that they are committing acts
of piracy, vandalism and theft of intellectual property. If a simple reminder
does not work, then inflict acts of piracy, vandalism and theft upon the
perpetrator's own pics.

In other words, I am not going to spend time on second reminders. I encourage
everyone to do the same.

Now what was that phrase about two wrongs...

Have you any idea how childish you sound?

The fact is that the people who are most likely to remove signitures from a
picture aren't artists. So they have no pictures upon which "copyright
infringements" can be committed.

If you really feel that strongly about copyright infringments upon your
pictures then the proper course of action would be to take legal action
against the person who stole/vandalised/pirated your intellectual property,
not to indulge in squabbles that would be more fitting in a playground.

Perhaps it's time for me to get a killfile.

Huh? I didn't bring this up with you...
You seem to go off on tangents whenever I
bring up a topic. You don't face the issues. Pete,
you are too difficult to follow... you make no
sense... you argue for the sake of arguing...
Ever step back and look at the newsgroup
and evaluate the 'disagreements'? Do you
notice that you are involved in 99% of them?
Do you wonder why?

I've long ago forgiven and understood Colin-
He posts so many pictures with credits intact,
an occasional oversight can be overlooked--he
did not do it intentionally... I can live with that..
I hold nothing against Colin at all. I like him.
Maybe you can learn to let things go too--
stop beating a dead horse...

Oh this makes sense... not. This correlates
to be nice to people, if they are not nice to
you, and after reminding them,& they are still
not nice, then inflict acts of meanness upon
them. Obviously your motto... but I've
been raising my children differently.
Perhaps you were an abused child. Reacting
to meanness with more meanness is a sign
of psychological damage.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Pete,
you need help. I feel true sorrow for you.

It was you who moved to an exchange of words rather than messages. I said
ridiculing copyrights is disrespecting copyrights, you said no, it is not.
Rather than going into a seesaw of words (it is, it is not, etc.,) I opted to
go for the key message (not words) facing the issue head on.

Ha ha ha! Are you trying to look adorable by projecting naivete?

Anyway, you may be right. I plan to talk less, and act more. And if people ask
why, then I will refer them to Colin with his law of the jungle ... uhh ...
unmoderated newsgroup. So, Aziraphael and who else, get an answer from Colin,
not me. I don't care about words anyway.

So now you're reading meanings into words?
Just read the words... take them at face value.
I'm at a complete loss with you Pete... you
cannot follow a simple disagreement. I feel
like I am trying to argue with a 2 year old.
You are clueless.

No, I am adorable... ;) and I do feel sorry for
you. I hope that someday you are able to
grow up. Heaven help your children.
They'll need it if you are their role model.

Ah, you plan on acting like an immature fool
some more? Why don't you *contribute*
something to this newsgroup? Instead you
are intent on hurting it... hmmm, even newbies
to the group have come to the conclusion that
you are a "twit"... as I said... you are making
a fool out of yourself. You don't care.

Nope, just strictly, and totally, ignore PC's postings. Given time it
will work admirably.

PC has been given many chances to become a happy and contented user
of this newsgroup but he chooses not to do so. That is his privilege.

Mr. P. Casso has posted a series of deliberate distortions and
misrpresentatons of the text and title of "The Ascii Art FAQ Ten
Commandments FAQ" to this newsgroup alt.ascii-art.

Mr. Casso has also miscredited the original author Joris Bellenger
(b'ger) and replaced Mr. Bellenger's name with my initals "cfbd".

To reduce any confusion, especially in new or inexperienced readers
of alt.ascii-art newsgroup, about these deliberate FAQ distortions
by Mr. Casso the correct version and title of the FAQ is given below:

Hi, I have been here for quite a while. When I found this place I arrived
in the middle of a 'stein war (albeit smaller than this one). After a
short while it settled down to being 80% ascii-art again. I advise you to
stick around for a bit longer as there are some extremely talented artists
here :

b'ger
jgs
llizard
cfbd
ojosh!ro
flump
mik
Lennert stock
Veronica Karllson

to name just a few. (sorry to anyone else I missed off)

Joan has just started reposting other peoples work, which are very nice
pieces.

I hope it calms down here soon.

Yep, it seems to happen in most newsgroups at times...some worse
than others, and it is entirely each reader's privilege to subscribe and
to unsubscribe at any time...nothing is compulsory on the Net.

I have subscribed ever since this group was created in September 1993
and it goes through these flamewars periodically. My choice is to
stay and to ride these things out...not very enjoyable at times.

Actually right now we are not just arguing. There are some very
important principles at stake here now involving deliberate
distortion of newsgroup FAQ documents and the deliberate alteration
of names and initials on ascii pictures and accrediting them falsely.

Argument is the wrong word to use for such undesirable activities.
