Eek.. looks like I was wrong.. this bed is faulty! Having a space missing
means it can no longer be approved by the Governmental Safety Inspectors,
and therefore must be humanely destroyed, or recycled into a childrens toy.

PS Sorry this took three attempts to get right.. bloody OE and its spaces..
I think I've figured out its reasoning though.. If there is one blank space
before a character at the start of the line it will delete it. If there are
two or more spaces before a character at the start of the line it will leave
them alone. Ergo, by simply putting ~two~ spaces before each line of the
ASCII, it will remain unaltered by Outlook. Ta-Da! ;O)

I thought you made it ?????

I lifted it from that great big illustrated poem you did,
which must have had clips of various others people's material in.

It's very old -- before Joan or Llizard first posted --
maybe it is by Rowan Crawford?

Nope...those drawings were included by Chevalier to illustrate one
of his poems. I don't think I've written any poetry unless you
count "National Anthem of The Frogs" as a poem? :-)

It isn't Row's eagle either as far as I know.

It could have been in one of Steven Sullivan's early collections of
Ascii Art posted to rec.humor...before alt.ascii-art was created in
September 1993 but he failed to attach authors' names. :-(

I have it in my bird archive marked as Unknown:

Colin Douthwaite, well-known to readers of this newsgroup died suddendly at
his home the other day.

He had a lot of fun winding people up, and keeping the whole newsgroup
community honest with CFV's and the like.

I knew him as a flyer of Indian fighter kites, but his interests were many and
varied. On the 'net of course no-one knows your age, but Colin was no chicken
and he'd had heart problems for a long time, including a very severe heart
attack last year.

I'd like to think that he's in the sun somewhere, in his little woollen beanie
hat, an impish grin on his face as he flys a genuine Nagasaki hata, cutting
everyone else out of the sky!

My sincerest condolences are with the family and friends of Colin Douthwaite.
I never met him but felt as though I had. He touched many people throughout
the world-- more than he probably realized. He'll be missed in our
newsgroup. I'm quite sure that he won't be forgotten. For one thing, his
ASCII art and his reputation will live on.

What sad news.

He will be sadly missed.
I hope that wherever he is, he
will always be arguing to keep things
simple.

Cheers Colin!

I'll go with that - I haven't said much here, but I've been lurking for
a while. Hopefully soon I'll have more chance to practice and then I'll
be able to contribute more, but for now I really enjoy reading the posts
of people like Colin. I feel like I know you all a bit and I'd like to
know you all better :)

|He had a lot of fun winding people up, and keeping the whole newsgroup

|
|I knew him as a flyer of Indian fighter kites, but his interests were many and
|varied. On the 'net of course no-one knows your age, but Colin was no chicken
|and he'd had heart problems for a long time, including a very severe heart
|attack last year.
|
|I'd like to think that he's in the sun somewhere, in his little woollen beanie

That is very sad to hear. Condolences to all family and friends.

I (and I'm sure all of the newsgroup regulars) will always remember Colin
for his good humour and big part in the newsgroup ... and everyone else in
all of the other newsgroups he posted in, and anyone else who ever met Colin
whether online or offline. Most of all in this newsgroup, Colin will be long
remembered for his excellent, unique ASCII Art and his huge collection which
he maintained expertly.

An old Australian stockman was lying, dying.

So he gets himself up on the one elbow,

and he turns to his mates gathered round him,

             and he says:
