ok iam just starting ascii art and wanted to know where i could get a program besides email effects for making ascii art?

Okay, a few pointers for our newbie here... (that is, you.)
1) Don't use tabs, only spaces. Tabs aren't always the same width in
different programs (newsreaders).
2) Remember to sig your work. You probably don't have a sig yet, so
see the 'Who is who in ASCII art' at
http://www.ascii-art.de/ascii/uvw/who_is_who.txt and check that nobody
uses the sig you choose. For example, cph would be a sig for you, as
it's not taken yet.

So, add your sig in an obvious place, as I did here. I don't know if
this stuff about sigs and such is written in the alt.ascii-art FAQ,
but you want to check it out too. It's posted in the group once in a
while, so just find it and read it.

Okay, no probs... (note that I meant signaturing your art, it had
nothing to do with your message sigs)
