Ok, that's Johnny Bravo. He's a cartoon. He's on teletoon. And the cartoon network. thank you and know you know.

It works for eurosport at my local cable provider.. And the national channels broadcast all major sports events in both official languages.. (Finnish and Swedish) I'd guess they could change it in the satellite decoder, but it beats me why they didn't. I guess they think that only kids watch it and they aren't as critical. Forget dubbed TV, people learn a whole lot more from subtitles. Here in Holland most foreign TV programs (unless it's for kids up to, say, 8 years old) have subtitles. The main advantage of that system is that it's cheap and people learn English whilst watching their favorite show. Think about it, you hear the words and you can read the translation at the same time. It's an inadvertently educational way of watching TV :-))) -- Peter Punk \ / ---\\\\--- / \ Op zoek gaan naar buitenaards leven? I can. > But subtitles make them not to forget how to read, and this is a good > thing (tm). That might be true. But I think you would have to be really stupid to forget how to read. I think Peter is right .. watching programmes that aren't dubbed makes people learn the language better. You can verify this by speaking english with inhabitants of countries that do dub their programmes. They're aren't quite as good at it and their accent is usually way off. But what I was saying in the first place was that such countries should broadcast the original language too along with the dubbed version. The original version with subtitles would be best and fortunatly that is how most countries do it (americans however .. if they see a good foreign film they recast it with american actors and shot another version of it .. Nikita f.x was originally french. *g*) But you can't just change the style of broadcasting for an entire nation like germany for instance .. there are too many people that can't speak even a bit of english and are not used to subtitles. - Kind Regards CeeJay

Most people can't hear words while reading at the same time. I agree, most people don't learn much that way. They learn how to read the subtitles long before they learn any English (or whatever), and then they just keep on reading. It worked for me, but I'm an exception (I think it may have something to do with the fact that I didn't have a TV until I was 12 years old and already knew some English). -- (, http://www.ludd.luth.se/~vk/cgi/asciichat/ /|__--__ . __--__ |\ '__ /|\ _{ _ `.' / `.,_ _________ | _________ _,.'
