I think they looked quite OK on Krogg's swords.

(The screenshots are because there may be some difference in fonts
that's causing people to not "see" this stuff...)

JFL doesnt really work very well in small areas IMO. Its better if its an overall
style else the extra bits (the horizontal bars on the J,F,L) get in the way,
unless the extra bits are actually useful for some other reason.

The lines and shapes you get out arent generally as clear as | / - stuff, though
if there are other clues as to what the shape is (perspective, part of a circle
etc) then it does work, and is often the only way to do something.

The J F L thing can give a greater variety of angles, unless (as you say)
you focus on the details to much. I find it works better on larger pics, and
it also seems better in some fonts than others.

The JFL technique can work well for perspective pics...

Well i wanted the ends of the swords to look _rounded_ as if the
swords had a convex edge to them.I didnt want them to look like they
had flat angles on the ends like these look:

The "J" is the only one that bugs me in this one,but still the
sword does get a rounded end to it the way i have done it,I think
that the confusion is that y'all think i wanted the ends to be slanted
like the /\ combo would have done.

Then my wonderfull godess,VK responded thusly:

Thanks VK,They look just as cool in your font as
they look in Topaz new2.I am glad you can see why
i used them jlf's on the ends. :) :D :) :D :P
I think they look a little more like daggars
in yer font though, but that is ok.

I wanted the ends on them swords to look like this

     , ,
   ,' `. / \
  / \ / \
 J L rather than like this / \
 F J / \

I hope that every one can see this now.... :P

besides i did say they was stupid to start with
didnt i...............

Be cool everyone,
 Krogg.

I see you use TIN, for what OS is that? And if it's a Windows program,
where can i download it?

Its unix, though that means the real culprit is the telnet program. I'm using
PuTTY for windows, and it has other features which outweigh the lack of

As far as i'm concerned, the only font i really need is the PC's system

I tried tin once. It "lived inside my xterm window" and used whatever
font I had set for that (which was probably the one you see in that

of them swords for a while though. Those are some COOOOl
swords, and the process used to make them is a trip.

Your version, above, kinda makes them look a little
more sharp on one side and thats kinda cool too.

Well, I am using SLRN [1] under windows.... There is not much
difference in handling - if you get the right keybinding file ;) You
see, in slrn you can bind the keys to everything you want. You can even
bind self written functions to some keys, have threading, colors, a
score file (much like the a kill file), and much more.... Give it a try,
you'll find a link to the win-binary on the main page. If you need any
help with it just let me know :)

 So long!
