Hello, I am starting some ascii art and was wondering if anyone out there wanted to make any suggestions.. I am placing it on a site http://members.tripod.com/EgyptianVampiress/asciiart.htm but theres not much yet and I'm only 12 yrs. old so don't be too harsh on me. Suggestions and improvements are welcome, though.

You spam groups about your kids' irc network, you use grammar, you read "The Stand", you're supposedly good at HTML, you make jokes about how browsers/news readers interpret links, you actually FAKE bad spelling and grammar occasionally to appear young, you use terms like "federal information restricted from the public", sometimes the way you talk makes you seem like you're 30+ (especially when you joke), So what's with this? I used <pre>, however it wasn't in the font I wanted so I used it with the font, I made this in FrontPage and when I went in to edit html it came out in the font I didn't want so I changed the font but the pre's setting was still the same so I went with it Stefan [The BrainWave] <bra...@crosswinds.net> wrote in message news:om5%4.14518$A62...@nlnews00.chello.com... | | Armagideon Time <dal...@firked.com> schreef in berichtnieuws | Hq1%4.55$Ne2...@news2-win.server.ntlworld.com... | > | > "frog" <fro...@Adelphia.net> wrote in message | > news:OIX_4.304$kM1...@news2.news.adelphia.net... | > > Hello, I am starting some ascii art and was wondering if anyone out | there | > > wanted to make any suggestions.. Have you been following me around or something?
I am seriously 12. I have hung out with adults quite often, because I don't
get along with kids. The good grammar isn't always so. If you've seen my
webpage you will see my picture, and that's as much proof as I can give you.
I have no idea where my birth certificate is, and I wasn't really ready to
go that far to prove my age.
I can give you as much of an explanation as I can, however. Who said kids
don't use grammar? I like using it. It's almost a habit! I spammed
alt.kids-talk, yes.. I went on about my Kids' Community. I am a HelpOp on
chatarea.net along with being an interview, and of course the Kids' CM. I
didn't read "The Stand" all through. I started reading it but when I got
halfway through when Larry was starting to unfold his beginning, I decided
to skip around in the book. I started following Nick Andros and still
haven't finished the book. I know most of what I do about it by the movie.
With HTML, HTML is very simple. It doesn't take a genious to learn it. If
a person can take a foreign language in 7th and 8th grade, why not a
computer one? Not that I learned HTML in school (Even though there are
clubs that teach it.) I have used a computer since 5th grade, and have grew
quite fond of them. I have a rather fast typing speed and am good at art
and literature but not everything. I am terrible at math and science. Not
to mention getting all of the homework in! I don't quite understand you
when you say I make jokes about how browsers/news readers interpret links.
I usually don't fake anything. I am 12 and I can't be perfect. Even if I
were older I could not be perfect. I actually spell better than my dad.
The terms I use are to make me sound professional. If I am going to be a CM
for a kids chatroom I have to seem older to them so they won't misbehave and
not care when I warn them. Also, I learn a little 'fancy talk' from some of
my favorite movies, such as "Interview with the Vampire". (Yes I've seen
the movie, If you want I'll give you a report on it!) I'm not 30+, and
believe me, you're not the first person to think I am older than I really
am. Now, I would like to know who you are and how you know so much about
me. It seems like you're following me around. Perhaps you got the
information from my page but either way, as far as I know I have only lived
on this planet (as well as any other) for 12 years, plus how ever many more
months/days it has been since September 4th.

It's more important how old they *behave*. I remember Martin Atkins announcing his birthday and somebody asking "how old?" and him replying "15". Everybody was shocked! He didn't *act* like a 14-year-old. The person here he was most like was Colin, who was close to 70 when he died last year... > You spam groups about your > kids' irc network, you use grammar, you read "The Stand", you're > supposedly good at HTML, you make jokes about how browsers/news readers > interpret links, you actually FAKE bad spelling and grammar occasionally > to appear young, you use terms like "federal information restricted from > the public", sometimes the way you talk makes you seem like you're 30+ > (especially when you joke), So you know this person from some other group? There is no big connection between spelling and grammar and age. E.g. my spelling was better when I was ten years old than it is now! (because then I read many books, now I read Usenet, and then I wrote essays as part of my school work, which were criticised and corrected for spelling mistakes by my teacher) > So what's with this? Do you think you're not good enough to be judged as > an adult or are you sick in the head or what? General good advice would be "kids don't belong on Usenet" and "don't _tell_ people your age". Looking for special treatment because one is young is not a good idea. -- (, http://www.ludd.luth.se/~vk/cgi/asciichat/ /|__--__ . __--__ |\ '__ /|\ _{ _ `.' / `.,_ _________ | _________ _,.' HTML is about what the content _is_, not what it _looks like_. ASCII art _is_ "preformatted text", so you should use <pre> tags for it. If you don't like the default font for <pre>, the first thing you should do is adjust your own browser to use the font you prefer, and similarly I should set my browser to use the font _I_ prefer. The *big* thing about writing HTML is to learn to relax and not worry about what things look like. This includes not worrying about exactly what fonts other people use. I have made a little "ascii art to html converter" toy: http://www.ludd.luth.se/~vk/cgi/ASCII-to-HTML/ and written a short tutorial about putting ascii art on the web: http://www.ludd.luth.se/~vk/q/asciitutorials/webpage/ -- (, http://www.ludd.luth.se/~vk/cgi/asciichat/ /|__--__ . __--__ |\ '__ /|\ _{ _ `.' / `.,_ _________ | _________ _,.'
