Help with a cone in a helix shape

I have been trying to put this together, and it just doesn't seem right.
(my first ascii). The bottom should look round and the lines up and
around should look like a ribbon. The center post is essential and the
ribbon should go around the helix 3 full turns like this one. Can
anyone diddle this one a bit better? It looks more like a beaker with a
sharp point right now. Full credit will be given! Feel free to
completely re-do this if necessary.

A lot of the graphics in the game could never have been done without alt.ascii-art, actually. I have little graphical inspiration, but working with and basing on some ascii images helps a lot!
