:Normally folks describe this kind ofa structure as a chiasm.  This is
:where, in a piece of literature, a person makes a statement (A) at the
:beginning and the same statement at the end (A').  then a second
:statement
:is made (B) which ends up corresponding to the second-from the last (B').
:there is then a central statement (C).  Normally the structure is
:graphically represented as:
        A
                B
                        C
		B'
	A'
What this author is trying to do is show the movement of ideas from both
ends toward the center (D) in the illustration below.
