OK, so you have only shown us this one how many times? Lets guess at
once a year, in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, that's four times, plus a few
times when you couldn't think of anything better to do than yet another
flood of re-runs. No, adding borders to the pictures doesn't improve the
jokes. They're still old.

Get fucked Veronika. I don't care if one person in this whole group is in love
with you, no one else really likes you at all. Fucking ascii nazi.

1. My comment above had nothing to do with ascii. It would have
been the same in just about any group. It's just plain rude to
try to make it look like somebody wrote something they didn't.

No you wouldn't have Veronika, you just don't like the guy because in your mind
anyone who ever reposts anything is evil. You're crazy.

A most fair and valid point.

Hmmmmm..... Now this is just a violent and childish reaction.
Had the point been raised per se, I would be forced to agree.
In this particular instance, though, the woman had a point...

And now a few thoughts for VK...

You say "It's plain rude to make it look like somebody wrote something they
didn't."
Yes, Veronica, it certainly is... hypocrite!
First you create you own clique little chat-room, and make up your own
special rules.
Then you give something of your personality away with the secret password
(FISH!!?!)
Then you immitate people in there, making them look as though they said
something
they didn't. (do you need examples - I can give them to you)
Then, when somebody logs on, and off, with the username "vk" (you are there
as "VK"), you
feel that you have to defend yourself..."That wasn't me in orange!!!!!" -
Paranoid!
Scared of this immitation thing - VERY SCARED... Why?
Because you would be spiteful like that to others, you fear them
doing it to you.
Also, you live on the NET, because you do not like your life in
reality.
Do you have a recent picture of yourself on the Net? Why not?
BTW, I think that you are unatractive, even in the "very old
picture".
Your fear triggered your unnecessarily exhaustive response to the
above...

Advice... you have some options:
    1. Sit in front of a mirror and talk to yourself, until you resolve
some of those issues which bother you the most in REAL life.
    2. Take a leaf from the Americans, and seek professional guidance.
    3. Take a leaf from a marijuana dealer, and learn to chill out.
    4. Commit suicide, and save us all your bitterness, which reveals
          itself from time to time.
    5. Reconcider your love of cats.

Sorry to sound so bitter and twisted myself, there.
I'm not really, just think that you need to be put in your place a bit.
You are a Nazi.

Feel free to reply in any way you see fit.

Andy

oh,oh...
I'm guilty of this too, I'm afraid.
I suspect that there is a turn-over in

When I repost, I figure that there must
be some people seeing it for the first time.

andy, wow! you were gracious enough to give her options, and more than
ONE! here is a bit of past intolerance from a thread earlier this
year...the whole topic is not relevant (but available for reading)
because most topics discussed are interchangeable with the end
result--veronica's bad behaviour and sour attitude...

here is the ascii illustration, endearing sentiments, levity prevailing:

Thankyou ! I love it too .. I made a series of new teddy's yesterday and when i have sufficiently
many i will post them all and add the new to my existing teddy collection on my webpage ..
I'm a sucker for cute ascii-art .. I like all ascii-art but the cute and cudly stuff have a special
place in my heart.

Neat !
This will be the second teddy made by someone other than me (i forgot who made the first),
I think the score is about : HOME = 40 - VISITORS = 2

Here are a REPOST of the royal teddies i have made so far:

.__.__.
\_____/
 `'.''
 o( )o - King Teddy
 `0-0'

.__.__.
\,---./
 `'.''
 o( )o - Queen Teddy
 `0-0'

And here some variations on your crowm
King Teddy is more than happy to model for us.

     . . .
     .\/.\/.
      \_|_/
      `'.''
      o( )o - King Teddy
      `0-0'

     . . .
     .\/.\/.
      \_O_/
      `'.''
      o( )o - King Teddy
      `0-0'

Rediddling the basic figure can also result in many more types of creatures .. all cute.
F.x this one :

,-=-.
\ ()
/( )\ - It's Kenny !
`-bb'

and this :

 ,-v-.
'`'_''`
 o( )o - I'm not really sure yet , but i think it's a dragonbaby
 `0-0'

> Assuming that one COULD play chess, how difficult would it be to play

They could be made to fit a board .. if someone created a skinnable ascii-art chess game i could
probably make pieces for it.
Would they refuse to fight ?
Hmm , I think they would use charm attacks instead ..
The loser melts from all the cuteness , or becomes so lighthearted that they float of the board.

Cuddly yours

I second Joan's opinion....

but i differ in one respect;

Friendly picking is ok,but these downright
bitch pitchings are SO boring, unless they got ascii
art in them...If Y'all is gonna fight then post
ascii fights,if you is gonna just whine on and

If anyone called me a Kotex and depicted
me as being "flushed away" (which by
the way will clog your sewer/septic pipes
eventually), I would have a bit of bad
behavior and sour attitude as well.

Pru, the link you posted shows JRO's
very bad taste -- regardless of what might
have gone on between the two of them.
Reposting Andy and Bateau's ravings
reminds me of the following saying by
Eugenia Price...

"Real laughter welcomes, and never shuts out."

Their posts are not funny -- they are mean-
spirited. Making fun at the expense of other's
feelings is not the thing to do... didn't your
mother teach you that?

This is an international newsgroup -- we need
to show tolerance and openness toward each
other -- especially if there are disagreements--
and there will be -- this is LIFE.

Fighting like kids *is* childish. Personal
grievances should be just that -- personal.
Take it to private email.
Keep this group for ASCII art discussions.

Hmm I myself had only seen this one once before .. last year around halloween too.
But then again .. that was about the same time i started reading this group :)

Nahh you're not entirely wrong ..
I myself however only repost something on request or when it suits the subject of conversation.

So is reposting a halloween image ok when it's halloween ?
I guess so .. as long as you don't overdo it.

Is 4 (maybe a few more) times too many ?
I don't know.

Can anyone remember what you call a question, that you answer yourself ?
I don't know. :)

I figure the better the picture is the more times you can repost it before someone tires of it.
And your Joan is usually very liked and even admired .. I guess no one hurts from a few reposts now
and then.

Kind Regards
CeeJay

The swiss miss bitch strikes again! Go away, I still get a chuckle out

I did not post that thread 'to make fun', but rather point out, her
responses and flames, mockeries, complaints, yawns, etc. are not new to
aaa and someone else responded in kind to her 'lashing out' as she calls
it. Didnt HER mother teach her about co-existing with people,
tolerance, love and acceptance? She eminates a strong dislike for
people, that is what I see, coupled with jealousy and ignorance. I am
not here to justify my late mother's teachings nor do I consider myself
a failure as a daughter because on occasion I find a bit of humour in
unsavory jokes. Nor as a mother do I teach my child to find unsavory
humour acceptable...but, I am human, I am not righteous, I am flawed.

I find it incredulous that you instruct me and others here to take it to
email, tolerate, etc. but do not openly find fault in her unsavory
behaviour and scold her for HER distasteful behaviour. The chron of
events are: She insults someone, that person will respond, then people
start to hold their ears and eyes, forgetting the origin of the thread,
the origin being HER behaviour. Those hiding their eyes further
invalidate the hurt party's feelings.
Childish behaviour: I dont agree with your conclusion; if one child
starts something and the next child retaliates, the child who initiated
the conflict should be addressed first to abate and correct the
situation. Talk to VK first, then globally admonish the rest of the
"children".

She has insulted one too many ladies and gentlemen on this
newsgroup...that is all that is being stated OPENLY.

Love this Bishop Teddy!

I too have been known to repost things. I believe we all have at one
point or other. But like you, CeeJay, I generally repost drawings on
request.

That's the point I'm trying to make. How many times can you repost the
same thing before somebody gets tired of it? I'd say it depends on the
"thing" that's posted. In general, old jokes are not fun. What JRO posts
is old jokes. In his case twice is too many times. Even very good things
get old and tired eventually if they get resposted often enough (yes,
I'm thinking about Meriday).

As for newbies never having seen some pictures before, well, that's what
archives are for, e.g. web pages.

From the link you posted it's quite clear that the law can only be
invoked if the other members of the newsgroup agree that it should be.
So far I've seen no evidence that everyone else thinks it should be.

maybe i will make a winders version oneday.A note
about the pootpoot,is that the actual c code for
the program IS ascii art,and there are 2 versions
of the code, they both spell out "POOT".

I'm a reg and I see a lot of these reposts for the first time. There's nothing

So far, after following several very different newsgroups for a few
years I've got the impression that it is a relatively universally
accepted "rule". Basically, somebody who can't come up with anything
better than to compare his opponents in a discussion on Usenet to the
worst murderers in history has lost all sense of proportion and does not
deserve to be taken seriously any more.

Yes it is. That's why people who compare someone who doesn't agree with
them on the Usenet to Nazis have lost whatever argument they had.

Lost whatever argument they've had? Clearly your POV is meaningless because you
know nothing about the situation, otherwise you'd know it was the start of an
argument.

I did'nt make a new thread. I just changed to subject of the post to the subject of conversation.

And second .. you don't care about the thread - I don't care about your killfile.

Yes, and that is considered a new thread (unless you're some anal mofo who goes
on about references etc). Don't do it.

You don't care about needlessly causing hassle for people.
