Does anyone have any cool art that can fit onto a text message from a mobile
phone. Its about 16 characters wide and 3 tall.

Cheers!

This subject *needs* a FAQ of its own!

We at alt.ascii-art would be most happy to forful requests for most mobile
phone messages, but we first require some information?

What size is the screen (how many letters wide? how many letters tall?)

Does it use a monospaced font?
You can find out by typing this:
III III|
MMM MMM|
In a monospaced font, those lines will be the same length.
We can't do it if the target phone isn't in a monospaced font.

Is there anything special we can do?
Some requests have allowed simple animation where you scroll down the
message a page at a time to see the anim...

What characters can we use?
Some phones have more characters than others.

What characters can't we use?
Some of these phones don't seem to be able to manage some of the main
characters that ascii artists use a lot... \ | / > < . - '

Are there any special requirements?
eg Do you need some kind of space left for something?

What do you want a picture of?
Well, we won't start drawing until you tell us what to draw!

If you could give us as many details as possible I'm sure people will be
happy to respond.

----

Well, that's the end of the standard response. You've already answered the
screen size question, but the others remain unanswered. If you could
enlighten us, people are more likely to draw things for you.

Here are some mobile phone pics I've done in the past:

  .-------------.
! (o) (o) !
m! @ !
g! "-.-" !
a '-------'
  '-------------'

  .-------------.

  '-------------'
  .-------------.
  | :| /! |
: '----!'."/
/ ',.-
/"""/ / mga
  '-------------'
  .-------------.
  !'. .'!
  !.- -.!
  ! >e< !
   '---' mga
  '-------------'

  .-------------.
!'.-"""".
m ! ) o :
g ! ) :
a !.'-....'
  '-------------'

These use the character set - ? ! , . : " ' & $ ( ) / % @ 1-0 a-z A-Z
It seems these newer mobile phones have a more extensive character set, but
I'm aware that a lot still can't manage lower case (I suppose it's hard
enough typing in all caps on a phone keypad)

Kind Regards,
-Martin
