Seems like it's one of the options in Works, which comes bundled with your new Windows computer... Does anyone know of a text editor which allows this ? Wordpad and NotePad dont seem to. Thanx

Actually, way back when, the first ascii art that was designed to print out on the old 132 column line printers used overstrike for shadowing a lot. Somewhere I have a great collection of the old pictures, just no way to print them out anymore. :^( Sandy

Are you talking about a line through the character,
or double strike? I thought "overstrike" refers to a
line through the character.

Gee, even the ASCII streams would be nice,
I would enjoy converting them some way.

I remember that being implemented in a word processor
or something recently, maybe HTML.

Ok, I've seen a lot of .doc files that use
the backspace character to do that on printouts,
like for paragraph headers in manuals, etc.
But I don't know if it is ASCII or not. :-)

You know, I got inter one of these here striken affairs, my own
se'f. Jus' last week, I wuz in this here beer joint, when this
feller say to me, "You're a chain-smoker". That were 'bout all
it took. Anyways, he throwed a double-stike at me, an' I
overstruck back at him. Since that missed, I used the bottle
of hootch I was drawin' on, and struck-through at him.
I doan have no idear whut riled this feller; if it were
jus' me chain-smokin', er not. I mean, I didn't even noe
his wife --- never seen her. But all's well that's ends well,
I allus say. Sometimes knowin' how to type comes in handy.
