I think having the description of the contents of the message is a great
idea... have I done it properly?

Down to business..I have a few questions..

I liked those winnie the pooh pics (they're right up there with the
sandman.death pics I saw earlier) ... I was wondering how you got them to
come out so good... did you create them manually? That seems like a LONG
time to create them if you did ... so I assume that you must have used a
GIF to ASCII converter ... but normally when those converters create a
picture, there's a horible background distracting from the picture and the
shots don't come out so clrearly defined (it almost gives the impresion of
color) .... did you modify them afterwards or is there a way to get the
converter to actually produce results that well..

I'm asking these questions a little prematurely, since I don't have a
converter yet... this leads me to another question....

I know where I can find converters (ftps sights) from reading through an
FAQ (or maybe it was just a message somewhere) .... and I picked up a few
for DOS.... but I can't get them to run ... the one that came the closest
to running gave me a message saying that it needs go32.exe (or something
like that) .... Can any dos users that are sucessfully using a GIF to
ASCII converter please let me know which one they are using, what I have
to do to get it to run (if anything special needs to be done), and where
to find it?

thanks for any help you can give me.

It's good enough. While I was the one who pushed their usage in these
groups, I still find them slightly annoying, and better to have them than
not to have them.

You should try to use or modify an original so that it has a clean
background. Also, modifying a pic after conversion is usually always
helpful. See one of the versions of the FAQ for info on making better
conversions.

Could somebody email me a copy (or put it in my incoming FTP folder)
of the go32.exe so I can put it in the Gifscii folder here at ftp.wwa.com.

   Thanks a lot.
