If you posted something to rec.arts.ascii and the post bounced back to
you, there's a good reason for that.

We had to change the article address just after the group was
created. This should cause trouble for a couple of weeks.

You should be able to post articles starting anytime in the next
10 or 15 days or so. It may be today, maybe next week. It may take some
time for the new address to reach all the sites it needs to be.

I haven't got the rec.arts.ascii newsgroup on my site yet. I haven't
seen a "newgroup message" either.

It seems that the providers in Germany don't carry rec.arts.ascii yet.
If anybody out there in Germany carries rec.arts.ascii please mail me!

OK, first, if you are not getting rec.arts.ascii, I will personally go
to your InterNet providers house and picket until you get it. :^)

Or, a less drastic, but probably still workable answer is that you,
and others on your site, and myself, can write to the folks in charge at
your site, and ask them to please carry rec.arts.ascii.

On some systems, if you are in rn-trn and similar newsreaders, you can
type:

grec.arts.ascii

The system will tell you if either the group is there but you are not
subscribed to it, or if it does not exist at that site.

And again, if you are posting, but it's bouncing back to you, just
send me an email message.

that's me, who is in charge, but I cannot get rec.arts.ascii oput of the
air, I need some site in Germany ot feed it to me. Currently there are
three providers, EUnet, XLink, and the DfN. I get my Newsfeed from all
three of them, but not rec.arts.ascii. That should mean that no one in
Germany would get the group at all. Paul@heino, are you out there? Do
you get rec.arts.ascii ? Or anyone else in Germany? I feel I will have
to go bitch in de.admin.news.groups ...

cannot post to a group that doesn't exist... I may mail you directly,
if you t4ell me what mail address to use for rec.arts.ascii, but then
I will not see my posting or possible followups... :(

I see. I didn't know you weren't even being offered r.a.a. Are there
any other sysadmins in other countries not getting r.a.a as part of your

What's wrong? The GMD gets rec.arts.ascii. Check my path, it's going over
xlink.

... yes, i'm alive. I moved to rec.arts.ascii already since it shows up here
at my site just fine. I get the news from the computer center at the Technical
University of Aachen (German Name is: "Rheinisch Westfaelische Technische
Hochschule Aachen (Rechenzentrum)" - just in case you're interested). I'm
supervisor here at my site but not in the computer center where the nntp-host
is located. I think i'll give you the adress of my nntp-host: 137.226.112.21
(urmel.informatik.rwth-aachen.de). Give it a try. It is possible that you are
not allowed to post because posting is limited to some special domains. But

... posting this to alt.ascii-art, alt.binaries.pictures.ascii and
rec.arts.ascii should make this visible 4 u to at least two of these groups.

*.sounds*, but alt.ascii-art is here...

well known addresses to me. I am not on Internet, but I think I will be
able to get it from a UUCP site 'nearby' (in net terms) that is on internet
and an nntp server as well, golden-gate.owl.de in Paderborn. I'll take the
forever train to Paderborn tomorrow and see what I can do, maybe I will
get the alt.binaries.pictures.ascii feed from that place too.
