Or there really _are_ only 12 posts today.
I hope it's the first. Anyway, here's a little something...

It squeeks, thus making it sound as if there's something wrong with it so almost no-one wanted to keep the drive if they bought one. Pity, i had high hope for it. >or the 2.88Mb floppy (most Motherboards and floppy drives can supposedly >support the format, but have you ever seen a 2.88Mb floppy?) Again: yes, but i'm a bit exceptional to this stuff. I always bet on the wrong horse :-)) I had an ED-drive in an FD4000 3.5" floppy drive for the C=64, that drive (with some custom hard/software) could store up to 3.2 Mb on a floppy, provided it was formatted the Commodore way (GCR for the insiders, PC uses MFM) This is what an ED-floppy looks like: _____________________ | _________________ | | | |#| |0| _______________ | | | | _______________ | | | | _______________ | | | | _______________ | | | | | | | |_________________| | | | | ,----------; | | | _ | | | | | | | | | | | | | || |(3 | |_| | v| \__|________,_|______| Not much different uh? Only the hole on the top-left is positioned just a bit lower than on HD-floppies. Anyway, there is still one medium which i think can be the future of portable storage, and that's a simple CD-RW rather than a ZIP-drive (be it the 100Mb version or the 250Mb version) but that's a medium i still don't have :-)) -- Peter Punk \ / ---\\\\--- / \ Visit my MIDI-site at http://members.xoom.com/miditation Conversation, n.: A vocal competition in which the one who is catching his breath is called the listener.

Funnily enough none of mine are in their original cases either.

Ooo, I hope not.. Ever since I heard of the "Click of Death"-problem, I decided Zip-drives are not an option. (just search for click of death with altavista and read the horror stories) >...and on the subject of large-capacity "floppies", whatever happened to >the LS120 (the 120Mb disk format whose drive was able to accept >standard 1.44Mb floppies) or the 2.88Mb floppy (most Motherboards and >floppy drives can supposedly support the format, but have you ever seen >a 2.88Mb floppy?) Actually, HD drives don't do ED, but the BIOSes support ED drives. I've seen the floppies, and the drives.. Mostly on IBM machines. My guess is that they were just too expensive.. The magnetic coating differs greatly to the one used in HD or DD disks, which is the cause for the higher price I believe. -- CBM, PEZ, and TI-calc nut, Scout, Glider pilot, Helpdesk-person Email: vjo...@sci.fi, URL: http://www.sci.fi/~vjouppi/ GSM: +358-40-5679999, IRCNet: Jope "I see", said the blind man as he picked up his hammer and saw.
My zip drive was click...I just hit it.
