View ascii art in FixedSys, Lucida Console, Courier New or >Courier. > > >Arial is crap... leave it well alone. > I think I have to explain something. 1. I must have been totally confused in that moment, when I wrote my sig. The Quote "Arial rules!" is the result of an error in my head (can't describe it better). Of course it should be "Courier rules", as I'm using Courier since about 3 month ago. Sorry for that mistake, now I left any "xxx rules" statements away. 2. The problem was not about font, as explained above. I try to say it more clearly (what is a bit difficult for me, as english is not my native language, so please excuse any mistakes): I use your sign to explain: d%+%b d$$ $$b =++@H XX++/ d$$@X$XX@ +H$XH@H+$b d$XMHHHHXXM $HXHXHH@H$+b X$H@@HHHHHH HHHHH@H@MX+% qXX @@ %+p qX$ M@MMH ++p qX$ MMMM@MMM +/= qHX$XMMMM@X++%p mga q$%$p This is what you sent me (by the way: wonderful) And this is what Outlook makes out of it: d%+%b d$$ $$b =++@H XX++/ d$$@X$XX@ +H$XH@H+$b <----- that d$XMHHHHXXM $HXHXHH@H$+b X$H@@HHHHHH HHHHH@H@MX+% qXX @@ %+p qX$ M@MMH ++p <----- and that line qX$ MMMM@MMM +/= qHX$XMMMM@X++%p mga q$%$p those lines seem to have a SPACE missing. In fact, it is there, if I copy and paste into Notepad, or if I use more SPACEs in front of the pic, and also when I write messages, everything works just perfect. But if I read messages from this or other newsgroups, and if there is only ONE SPACE and after it a letter or something, OE doesn't show that first space. As you can see above, that sometimes makes pictures ... difficult to look at. I can solve the problem for me. I just have to add at least two more SPACEs in front of each line and it's ok: d%+%b d$$ $$b =++@H XX++/ d$$@X$XX@ +H$XH@H+$b d$XMHHHHXXM $HXHXHH@H$+b X$H@@HHHHHH HHHHH@H@MX+% qXX @@ %+p qX$ M@MMH ++p qX$ MMMM@MMM +/= qHX$XMMMM@X++%p mga q$%$p This is the first version of the picture I can read without problems. But I can not tell everyone in the net to add two spaces in front of each ascii-pic. So can someone tell me how I can switch that off? Phew, I hope I won't be flamed, but I thought this was the right ng for it, because it's a problem esp. important for viewing ascii-art.
