" (newline). But, yes, I've had the same problem. I've found that the above only works in Xemac's w3 web browser, which is not very popular. ("Hi, my name is emacs, the only text editor with a web browser written in it's macro language...") In fact, lynx even strips out repeated spaces(!). For example, "&" becomes ".", I believe. So, <a href="foo.pl?val1=one&val2=two"> would be <a href="foo.pl?val1=one.val2=two">, since the first, technically, is a legal URL but not a legal HTML anchor tag. And, using "%26", the standard URL encoding scheme, doesn't work because CGI wants those to be literal ampersands, not separators.
