You're probably better off using TEXTAREAs. However, you might want to try using document.getElementById('IDTAG').innerText instead, as that would be more conformant with the standard. After some googling, I came up with this allegedly DOM compliant example. I haven't tried it. document.getElementById("counter").childNodes[0].nodeValue = x; // - note that for this to work, the div must already have a child node. // - Otherwise, you'll get an error.
