A "character cell browser"?? What do you mean by that?

Why not? Did you try?
To my knowledge this is valid HTML 3.2 code:

<HTML>
<BODY>

<CENTER><PRE>

Half Space Technique for html art

<TT>01   .oo   </TT>
<TT>02  (  -)  </TT>
<TT>03   " "   </TT>
<TT>04         </TT>
<TT>05    .oo   </TT>
<TT>06  (  -)  </TT>
<TT>07   " "   </TT>
<TT>08         </TT>
<TT>09   .oo    </TT>
<TT>10  (  -)  </TT>
<TT>11   " "   </TT>

</PRE></CENTER>

</BODY>
</HTML>

The teletype tags are redundant of course, but PC gave a good reason to add
those.

Now you mention it. I just found a booklet about typewriter art -- Bob Neill's
Second Book of Typewriter Art (1984) -- with good descriptions of
"how-to-do-it-yourself". Ofcourse, typing the portrait of Barry Manilow or JR
Ewing has allways been one of my biggest dreams. ;)

There's a slight drawback though: he *overtypes* to obtain a broader greyscale
palette. But using layers in html 4.0 I might make it work on a webpage. One
day...

ciao,
mic
