**Warning, very verbose** My apologies, I made a few broad assumptions I guess. dan...@nofreemoney.bigfoot.com (Daniel Ros) wrote: >>There is a _difference_ between intelligence and maturity. > >I know. I was merely attempting to point out that Computer manuals and newsgroup FAQs are quite different things. A FAQ explains what a newsgroup is about and guidelines for behaviour when posting. Understanding a FAQ is no trial. It is the application of the FAQ, the guidelines and netiquette (the very purpose of the FAQ) that I believed Colin to be referring to, not JUST the understanding. Hence the reference to intelligence and wisdom. It may take some intelligence to understand computer manuals and FAQs, but my argument is that it takes wisdom to apply what you have learnt in the right situation (maturity!?!). >>I'm glad you are really good with computers though. > >Um, where did I say this?? Anyone?? > If I may quote, "Besides, what do you mean by 'mature adult'? Everybody knows that its only teenagers (16-20) that can get really good with computers. Witness Bill Gates, the founders of Excite and Yahoo, and countless other companies." To me, you sounded somewhat over-impressed by the basic skills of any normal computer literate teenager today. I do not count Bill Gates as 1. normal 2. A teenager of today However, I made the somewhat foolish assumption that you counted yourself as one of the teenagers that had "got really good with computers". Once again, my apologies. > I know more than some, but I didnt even *mention* my _own_ skills in >that post, I merely said that I understood the simple manuals for my >PC. To put it simply: 1. Your argument lacked substance. 2. I still have to figure out piplining myself! __:.__ (_:..'"= |:/ o o\ ;'-' (_) .
